Hey everyone I just made Novice Smuggler today and since I just started SWG a week ago, I'm wondering what the next step from here is...I was looking at the character builder on some SWG sites and they say that in order to move up the chain of slicing, you need slicing xp, but in game it says you need pistol xp to move up the slicing ropes (which makes no sense in my opinion). As for spicing some of the guides said I should start a plant and craft spices in a workshop or some rubbish like that. Also same thing as the slicing thing, it says that in order to move up the spicing ropes you need spice crafting xp, but in-game in says you need combat xp (again...no sense). So basically I'm just wondering what I should start doing in order to progress my way to master smuggler.

Those guides are all out of date. You need pistol and combat XP now to move up the Smuggler tree.

The Combat Upgrade which happened begining of may changed the xp requirements for smuggler. Used to need pistol, crafting, and slicing. Now you just need to blast a whole thwack of stuff. The guides you read were right... three months ago. The changes away from slicing and spicing xp confound me as well. I guess this way is 'simpler'.

To progress to master smuggler, a nobel and well treated profession I might add, just get in a grinding group and shoot things with your pistol. A lot of things. Over and over. Until you want to kick a puppy. Then kick a puppy and go back to grinding.

Said grinding groups can, on my server at least, be found forming all the time on Datooine in the mining outpost.

Congrats and welcome!

Now you probably want to know about.... DUCK!!

Sorry about that. Things are a little crazy around here right now. Like Zaka'lex said, take you pistol and start blasting things for now. Hopefully things will calm down soon.

For now, welcome again.... and mind the flying pies.

And be werry, werry quiet. We're hunting slices....

Welcome aboard the Smugglin' ship o' fools. Still afloat even after the slicing torpedo hit us midship.

Hello, I must be going. I cannot stay, I came to say I must be going. I'm glad I came but just the same I must be going.

Yep, it's all pistol and combat XP now. So... pick up the best pistol you can find and use...

CL7: DL44 pistol

CL10: Scout Blaster

CL14: Striker pistol

CL22: DH17 pistol

etc, etc... (check out the weapon certifications sticky in the weaponsmith forums)

and start killing things. That 1 million pistol XP for master smuggler should be fun.

If you want to 'speed up' the grinding a little, you might want to pick up pistoleer... maybe not master it, but go up a few trees a bit to get more effective with the pistol so the smuggler grind isn't as long. Personally, I did pistoleer AFTER I mastered smuggler, but that was back pre-CU when slicing XP and spicing XP were used and you didn't need 1M pistol xp for master smuggler.
