Thread: The Breakage Thread
I hope this new system does not go live, because
Farming loot dropsdoesn't equal fun. This seems to be
the DEVS lazy way to fix things instead of giving us real content
Yeah so the breakage system sounds better to me as well

Plan B does not in ANY WAY make carying contraband more risky than carying normal gear.
Breakage (Plan A) did (or at least was meant to).
Plan B does not accomplish the goals of Plan A ... it's a really REALLY bad plan B.

I like the idea of having the slice effects disappearing either over time, or randomly poofing altogether. Then the customer would need to return to a smuggler to have the slice retuned. This would allow the base item to keep working in an emergency.
As a (riskier) alternative for higher slices, have theitem's stats drop below original levels when it's in need of a retune. The item keeps working and isn't lost completely, but it won't work to it's maxiumum potential. It's a risk you take when having some whackjob crack open your gun and start cutting wires. ![]()

Lets keep this issue alive! I want to stress the Option B thing: You DON'T HAVE to get your gear sliced. If a player wants to take that risk, it's their decision. Breakage can be accepted, but only if the general public know the risk.
I say we increase the crackdown factor with the breakage system. Only the truly bold walk around with contraband because they know the risk and are willing to take it.
Someone please direct a red name in this direction.
i understand the concept and fully agree with it.
but contraband scans would be a much more immersive and effective system.
they need to do more than turn up the number of scans though...
they have to make it so getting caught with contraband REALLY effects you.
they've said confiscation is too drastic although i don't agree (but i can see why people would agree).
so why not have it so the Stormtrooper jams your weapon? they could put something similar to a restraining bolt on it.
and you have to see a Smuggler to slice it off.
or maybe they could Unslice your weapon?
you'd still get to keep your uber base weapon, but you'd lose the added bonus of a slice.
there are so many awesome ways to add after slice risks that it's rediculous. and we'll probably never get any of them.
One last bump and I'll let this thread die. I know there are people out there that want breakage.
