Thread: They confiscated my blaster! (and how I got it back)
I like the idea of making the confiscator an attackable npc, and once he is killed, the gun appears back in your inventory... whether the kill is made by you, or by somebody else later.
I like this idea!
Make me perform "community service" or pay a fine and sign a document promising "I will never use it again" and that it's a family heirloom or something and I swear it will go right back into the display case where it belongs.
LOL!!! ![]()
Then I get my junk back and go right back to popping pixies or blowing people away with my super-sliced gat! This makes it dangerous to use illegal items (if you get caught in a PvP situation without your favorite equipment you might have a tough time), but in the long run you really never risk loosing the item.
Customer Service would probably have to field a few complaints and refer people to information that explains how to get your stuff back, but it might be worth it!

one of the worries is that the system may make an error and give you back the wrong weapon or just plain not give you back your item at all.
Admittedly this would be a valid concern, but I think if they relied on the right game code it shouldn't be a problem. For the confiscated items they would use the same code for the bank and your personal inventory. Since the items taken would be linked to a mission in the datapad, the mission would bascially have storage like a storage droid. I can't remember ever loosing anything in my droid.
The mission itself would be different for a normal mission in that it cannot be canceled. Rather than an "abort" option, you'd have a respawn option. hen the mission is completed there should be little worry that items are not returned but the game code would not "respawn" your item, but rather "unlock" the storage space that is holding it. Mind you, this is all back-end stuff, the player just sees their items disappear and when they finish the mission they get them back.
