Ok, I've been through all of the posts here. Read each and every one. I've looked through the dev tracker. All I see their posting about is on home shows. I created a post, no reply. We need to know about the new changes on TC. What are the new percentages on slices? Are the caps still there? Where do they loot? How hard are they to loot? Do laser knives still convert? What level slices can you do without loot? I hope everyone who is testing all this is still on TC waiting to give us all good information, because it seems if there are problems, we won't have much time to fix them before they go live. Does anyone still care about slicing anymore?

I too am concerned, less about the percentages than the cap.

The cap is the single most detrimental thing to slicing. The rarity of these loot slicing pieces... makes slicing VERY expensive. If the only weapons that benefit from these pricey slices are cheap weapons (IE, made low enough below the cap) then people will be far better off buying very well made weapons which are made up at the cap, sometimes even beyond...

GM's comments

Wes's thread

Wes's other thread

all good places to look, as to the specific questions as I'm not sure if all of them are above:

What are the new percentages on slices? as of last time I was on TC (probably in one of the above threads, but to be safe (I haven't checked armour, sorry):

Type/Level/Loot/Boost%/Customisation%

Speed/1/None/2/20

Speed/2/Simple Toolkit/4/25

Speed/3/Finely crafted Toolkit/7/25

Speed/4/Delicate Trigger Assembly(that's the one GM says is a DWB/Avatar drop)/12/30

Damage/1/None/2/20

Damage/2/Simple Toolkit/4/20

Damage/3/Illegal Core Booster/8/20

Crit chance/1/Simple Toolkit/3/20

Crit chance/2/Finely crafted toolkit/5/40

Crit chance/3/Delicate Trigger Assembly/10/40

Remember - Boost is not cumulative, Customisation is - so speed 4 is in effect: 12% boost for 3 items (Simple/fine toolkits and DTA) and 100% customisation.

Are the caps still there? Haven't confirmed myself - need to get a decent weapon to try (since my two decent scatters both got broke in one fight I've been a little scared to use slicing on my good guns so far).

Where do they loot? Your guess is as good as ours, a few have been out hunting and sightings have been made, but I don't have them written down.

How hard are they to loot? Very low drop rate so far.

Do laser knives still convert? They haven't started converting - much less still convert (WUK/AUK do only if not in a crate, so not much testing on that took place)

What level slices can you do without loot? see above, but basic slices only

I hope everyone who is testing all this is still on TC waiting to give us all good information, because it seems if there are problems, we won't have much time to fix them before they go live. Does anyone still care about slicing anymore? Yes, there are a good number who do.

NB: Any comments I make on TC code can and often do change
before they reach live and may not reach live at all, please read my
comments with that in mind.

Thanks for the numbers!

The more I read about this stuff, the more I am beginning to agree that the cap is really going to hurt this system....

So, if someone wants to slice a weapon, basically we need to go lookup the caps on it so we don't waste a slice that does nothing? That doesn't sound right.

If slicing does NOT raise stats on items above their hard numeric caps, then slicing will still be severely broken -time, effort, customization points, and now super rare valuable loot components will all be lost with NO benefit gained!

I'm less concerned about the caps than I am about the lack of loot to use for the slicing. As you can see, about all you do is a measly little level 1 slice without having some loot item. Something called a 'simple toolkit' shouldn't require a trip to the DWB or the Avatar platform.

A number of us on TC-Prime have spent a lot of hours since yesterday trying to pin down what mobs will drop even the simple toolkit. So far it doesn't look good at all. We've done most of the mobs that you would expect to farm for some kind of lower level loot and the only thing we have heard reports on that was below lvl 80 dropping a loot item was mercenaries on Lok. With limited testing of my own I never got anything from them, but did manage to pick up a clear crystal. So, if they do drop them, the rate seems too low. Other reports said that night sisters dropped one of the loot items but due to a labeling bug we don't know which loot item it was.

You most likely won't cap if you can't slice beyond that lvl 1 slice... GM, please give us a more diverse group of mobs that drop the loot.
