Thread: Tevin Smuggles After The Revamp
This is a fictional tale about what I think smuggling will entail after teh revamp. For this story my template will be thus:
Rebel Col. Tevin Stargunner
Master Smuggler
Master Swordsman
Pistoleer 0004
Artisan 0030
Rebel Ace
Everytime I log on I work towards laying out my casino. Today is no different.
The original dream was to hook up with a Master Dancer that owns a Cantina and connect my casino to their joint in order to get the mind heal bonuses but I haven't been fortunate enough to find someone willing to risk earning the Visibility
I will get for running a vendor that sells Glitterstim and Deathsticks.
I guess I COULD just stick to pixie and muon and be happy with racking up mass Infamy- but that would be settling and I don't play this game to be settle.
So I log in, thinking I'll run some NPC smuggling missions
for some cash/prizes and see what opportunities pop up. All that changes when I check my mail.
Two new letters.
The first is from Yubb-Yubb, a weaponsmith who's guns I've sliced but I have never met avatar to avatar, who is asking me to deliver a spice order: 2 crates of pixie 2 crates of Muon 1 crate of GLitterstim, also known as the Jedi spice 'cause it juices up that purple bar below your HAM, if you've got it.
Seems Yubb-Yubb has discovered the force.
He's promised me my rate (70k a crate) and a little extra for my trouble: 20k that has been bank transfered to me already. The second letter confirms that.
Now, carrying around one crate of spice is like begging to be scanned, shot and having it confiscated
- carrying FIVE crates is just ridiculous.
Yubb-Yubb could get away with having a vial or two of each with little to no problem (maybe a fine- even if it WAS confiscated- no big deal) but who wants to seek out a contraband vendor every single time you need a muon fix? Or to purchase 2 crates of thrusterhead only to have it confiscated 5 minutes later. Better to have a crate at home to dig from (especially now, since you can't put contraband in droid storage anymore).
Throw in the fact that you're a Jedi and I can really see why this cat wants me to deliver- but I don't get the full effect of his reasoning until I check the attached waypoint for the drop off: NABOO.
Naboo is Imp Central on my server. It's been that way since day one of the new GCW
and I have seen very little that would ever change the situation. This is bad news for a Reb Col. who's planning a lil' Kaadra vacation but for 350k THIS Master Smuggler sees it as an offer he cannot refuse- Reb Col or not.
I'm in my home on Dant. So the first thing I do is go to the basement to my data terminal and check the scope of the GCW so's I can plan my route. I can't resist looking up the Most Wanted list
when I get there. It's comprised of the people with the most Infamy/Visibilty and the top 10 PvPers.
The Infamy top 10 fluctuates considerably because Infamy is always falling and therefore in flux but there are some regulars- Axob, and Capt. Samoot to name a couple.
The Visibility list also has a fast turnaround rate for the same reason. Not to mention BHs do their best to keep both lists in check- which brings me to the PvP top 10.
These names hardly ever change- It's mostly bounty hunters: D'wire Hangars, Grey Ghost, Wasodo T'gadie, - You know the type- But there are a few GCW heroes there as well. alright, back to business...
Dantooine to Naboo is pretty simple. Hit Corellia and turn it around to Naboo. The trick is which cities to take. There is no scanning in the actual starports but when you log into Theed you are actually OUTSIDE of the starport so I will be avoiding THAT joint for sure. Coronet, though completely rebel, is full of Imps tryin' to stir up trouble and even though I am only an combatant it does make for a hell of a lot of lag.
So I decide to fly into Tyrena and Keren. Don't know how far off that's going to be for the delivery but I can switch up once I get my bearings at Keren's Starport.
I pack my things and head for my city's shuttle port after a quick detour to a buff house. My first stop will be the Mining outpost where The Blue Fang, my Firespray, is parked and I can get a mind buff from one of the many AFK bots that hang there.
I go to use the shuttle and the damn thing takes off. Damnit! I only have to wait a minute but the pain is the same.
10 seconds later an Imp transport lands and troops jump out. They don't even ask questions anymore- they just start shooting.
I don't know if it's because my Infamy is so high or because I'm packing so many crates of spice- but I'll guess the former because they attacked me so close to my house.
I drop a mind bleed on the leader, a Nova trooper, using my scythe.
Warcry.
Intimidate and start handing area attack 3 out like government cheese.
Troopers are falling but so are my health and action bars.
I'm going to have to sample my own wares. I ingest a vial of pixie in the nick of time. There is only the Nova left and I am already digging way into his mind bar with some mind hit 3 action.
At the end of it all, I'm still standing. A quick peek at my character sheet and- YUP! My Infamy just shot up another notch.
I better keep moving.
It's kind of a pain to be this infamous but the extra experimentation points allowed me to make this pixie with a downtime of 50 seconds- I won't even get into how crazy my slicing has been!
This time I catch the shuttle.
While getting a buff I see a bunch of red dots on my radar. I immediately hit /sneak and /maskfaction
.
Troopers come into the cantina and start scanning people.
My screen starts to tick off with:
"You gain 210 smuggling experience points for evading scans"
"You gain 180 smuggling experience points for evading scans"
"You gain 196 smuggling experience points for evading scans"
/sneak kicks ass! Mask Faction too, for that matter.
Some other suckas get scanned, fined and have spice confiscated but I slip out cool and easy.
I hit the starport and decide at the last minute to take up my Yacht. I haven't been in it for ages and forgot it was parked here. I'm not in a hurry and I COULD use a lil' time to grind some spice schems, so I launch into space.
Once up and set for Corellia, I pull out my crafting R3, Grendal. I also pull Y'Nook. The NPC Wookie I picked up as a sidekick when I earned all that Infamy selling spice out of an apartment on Coronet. It's cool to have him tagging along behind me when I'm on the ship.
I'm crafting and getting good results when- Suddenly, I am under attack!?
Uh- DUH! I'm packing 5 or 6 crates of spice.
I can't even fight back 'cause this yacht comes without guns! I set up for the jump to lightspeed hoping I can set it off before they-
Too late. My engines are disabled and I am being boarded.
The Troopers come in three waves. The first group comes with a Nova. Y'nook starts blasting with the crossbow I gave him. I open with a couple of quick low blows and as the Nova trooper grabs his crotch and falls to the ground I switch to what I do best- Scythe time!
Grendal, which does have combat capabilities, gets killed real fast but the first two waves of troopers go down.
The third wave goes down too but not without taking Y'nook with them. It will be a week before I can use him again- considering I still have enough Infamy to have a sidekick.
I still have my delivery so that's good. I hit /sneak and make sure to reapply it when it runs out this time. I repair the engines and press on.
Once in Tyrena I use the yacht for travel only. Now I remember why I haven't used it so much.
Finally I get to Keren and immediately pull my Flash speeder. This guy lives out in the boonies but from what I can acertain this is the closest shuttle to his home.
Naboo makes me nervous 'cause it's LOADED with Imp bases and therefore Stormtroopers, AT-STs, and AT- ATs.
It all started when the new bases came in- people were hitting space and smuggler's up to gain all the faction they could get. It wasn't long before someone figured out a very advantageous way to place 3 PvP bases so as they were a REAL pain to take down. Then two guys got together and placed 4 PvP bases and two PvE bases outside of them and on and on.
Those Imps may be scum but they are totally organized.
Funny thing is I use mask faction and sneak to get by all these Imps only to be knocked off my speeder by some Fed Dub guys. They are no match for me, though (scanners are usually weaker on starter planets) which of course also means there is little Infamy to gain from this encounter- but it IS fun.
I get to Yubb-Yubb's house and walk inside to find a guy named Rogan Blightspeed. He's dressed in robes but I recognize his name from the Visibility Top 10. He's a Jedi.
Rogan:
You brought the spices. Just in time!
Tevin:
Yeah, these are for Yubb-Yubb. But I aint opposed to selling a little extra on the side if ya need it.
Rogan:
Yubb-Yubb's my alt.
"Rogan wants to trade with you" comes up and the deal is completed.
Tevin:
You do know that you are like #3 on the Top 10 visible people right.
Rogan:
Yeah, I'm in tell hell. But Maybe you can help me out with that...
...continued...
NEXT TIME:
TEVIN AND THE BH TERMINALS.
