Thread: Idea for slicing stuff...

First let me say this...
I'm not a Smuggler, I've never been a Smuggler, and I may never become a Smuggler either. I have known and dealt with many many Smugglers over the past year and a half, and have had a lot of different items sliced. I like the Smuggler profession, and I do hope you all get some love in the near future, because lord knows it has been looong over due.
That been said...
I had a cool idea last night as I was getting some armor sliced.
If this has already been brought up or suggested than cool, I would really have no way of knowing...
What if there was a "Slicing Window" that opened up between a Slicer and their customer (kinda like IDs). The customer could add the items they want sliced into it, the Slicer can charge their fee, and the customer can see tight there the outcome of the slice. Nothing is ever traded, and everything is legit.
Well, that was my great idea. What do you think?

I know everyone has been wanting this for a long time. Especially those people that have had a smuggler just run off with thier goods.

Sorry - It's been talked about a number of times.
From the last round of messages I'd say that the community is split on them, with some feeling it's a great way to protect both the smuggler and the client from robbery and griefing while others feel that by including a mechanism such as that it takes away from the RP'ing and "legitimizes" illegal activity. There are other arguments for and against as well but these were the 2 that jumped to mind.

Yep, we thought of that one too, thanks for playing. Honestly, we love new ideas, but we've been talking Revamp for so long it is pretty rare someone comes to use with a new idea. I'm sure someone, more ambitious than I, could point you in the direction of several threads this was discused in.

Honestly, yes it has been suggested a number of times over the last 1.5+ years.
Just as honestly pretty much everything has been suggested...and so little implimented. I've not seen a truely ground-breaking idea for many months.

While I can see the advantage of this, for secure slices, I see a larger disadvantage:
Smuggler slices UberSwordsman's Sword for 15% speed.
UberSwordsman has canceled the deal.
Smuggler slices UberSwordsman's Sword for 24% damage.
UberSwordsman has canceled the deal.
Smuggler slices UberSwordsman's Sword for 23% damage.
UberSwordsman has canceled the deal.
Smuggler slices UberSwordsman's Sword for 12% speed.
UberSwordsman has canceled the deal.
Smuggler slices UberSwordsman's Sword for 34% speed.
UberSwordsman has canceled the deal.
Smuggler slices UberSwordsman's Sword for 26% damage.
UberSwordsman has canceled the deal.
Smuggler slices UberSwordsman's Sword for 17% speed.
UberSwordsman has canceled the deal.
Five hours pass...
Smuggler slices UberSwordsman's Sword for 35% damage.
UberSwordsman has accepted the deal and offers 400 credits as payment.
You know, something along those lines. I don't feel it would be worth it.
