Thread: Faction, what's that?

I've been a Master Smuggler for about 6 months now. I stumbled into the profession. I intended to be a Bounty Hunter using Smuggler Pistol line for the specials. Then I got addicted to slicing. I bought some cheap weapons, sliced and resold them and ended up a Master Weaponsmith/ Master Smuggler. The irony is how far I got from Bounty Hunter.
I like my role in the galaxy. A gun-runner. Of course I'll draw the ire of some jaded folks who seem to hate the idea of selling sliced weapons on a vendor but I don't really give a flying rat's posterior. It's kind of ironic they refer to the weapons as illegal and yet would have a heart attack and/ or attack their Grandmother with a claw-hammer if an Imperial NPC confiscated that illegal DE-10 they just got the 35% DMG slice on. And I won't even mention the Jedi/ Sandwich Artists who used illegal weapons and armor to grind their profession and now hate them being on vendors. Oops I just did. Of the paths available it is the one I most enjoy. And last I checked I play for my enjoyment.
I also remain neutral. The irony being that I'm constantly asked to purchase faction points. I simply reply that I can't. Faction can only be purchased by someone of the particular faction you want to purchase and only in amounts of that Smuggler's rank within said faction. Of course I haven't even the slightest idea whether this is true or not. I'd really like to know more about purchasing faction. Anyone who can give me the heads up would be completely appreciated. (This is the part where the people who have 45095 posts all saying, "READ THE STICKIES!!!" chime in.I often wonder what they do in real life that makes them so bitter about someone asking a question on a forum designed to promote interaction and communication. Well generally nothing in real life because they spend all their time here posting "READ THE STICKIES!!!")
Well I would read the stickies, but my preference is to ask a direct question about how faction works and hope someone would answer it. Besides I'm lazy, it's 8am and I haven't slept yet. See the aforementioned Smithing/ Smuggling sure to drive some folks crazy who swear I'm stealing "content" from them!
So how does that buying faction thingie work? Thanks for your replies and the coming rants. Hopefully I'll be informed as well as amused.

Good thing you knew someone was gonna say to read the stickynotes, guess that means I don't have to refer you to them.
This also means I don't need to inform you that in the thread about faction sales, it lists all pertinate information, exactly how to sell faction, how faction ranks effect sales, and even costs of items; but I didn't need to say that, since you knew it was coming. I sure am glad that I didn't need to mention all that.

No way you could be a true smug and not know about faction after 6 months.

Um, I was a neutral smuggler for nearly a year, and then another few months i was reb but not of rank to care about the faction "biz". Part because I had other means for credits and part because I was against the idea of a "smuggler" not only enlisting but also going up the ranks and spending their lives as a clean military man.

My point? I spent a LOT of time knowing the ins and outs of lots of smuggler things, but had no real idea how FP sales worked.
Now please, be nicer to your fellow smugs.

Ok... Normally I don't answer redundant questions that have already been answered a dozen times before for people who are too lazy to spend five minutes looking up the answer -- but I'm gonna cut you a break this time. Here's the short and sweet version of how to sell faction points.
First, you've gotta be overt -- Special Forces. Got it? Now, go up to a recruiter from your side and start buying up points. It'll be something about making a donation or something to do with a bank account. I can't remember the exact wording. You can buy in 100k chunks, so buy a lot.
Next, go find a Jedi of the opposing faction. If you're Rebel, they gotta be Imperial. Now, here's the tricky part: You've got to attack them first and then use the /deligate command to give them a bunch of points and then /peace to stop the combat as fast as you can. Then you get them to pay you. You should start by demanding at least 200cr for each faction point you deligated to them.

We to are lazy and don't think it is our job to go around and rewriting stickied posts over and over again. Beisdes Knowledge is power. But I think the last poster summed it up nicely.

I dislike people who are lazy and expect things to be handed to them on a plate instead on simply looking up the answers in the FAQ.
