This one's for you Robren911
I was wondering the same thing, and wouldn't mind hearing the answer
I thinkyou asked a very good question, and feel it is an appropriate topic for discussion
Sorry that you got jumped
So here goes:
I remember reading a while back that Smuggler's tools would become 1 unit with a large number of uses in the coming Smuggler update. I wonder if that will render the cases of various tools I'm sitting on useless or if they will be converted. And if so I can't help but wonder what will be converted? Will each case of clamps, knives and upgrades be converted to a full Smuggler tool set? One can only wonder...
Allow me to add my own part as well: is it worthwhile to keep manufacturing current smuggler tools (or even buying them) or should the crafters and slicers among us begin using a "demand" mentality whereby we only make/stock a quantity that is useable in the short term...and make/stock more only as the market demands?

I don't think that anyone knows the answer to those questions yet, and if they did, they are the Correspondant or a Dev, and they won't say.
However, about currently owned tools, what I would advise is when buying/making tools,
Step 1.)Buy/Make less tools than normal
Step 2.)Use up all the tools you bought/used.
Step 3.)Go and buy/make more tools.
This way, if the Smuggler Revamp suddenly pops out of nowhere on top of us and renders our current tools useless, you will have a minimal amount of supplies on you at that time and thus minimal losses.
For those that have giant stockpiles of supplies that are worryworrts (typo intentional) then I say go take a day off from your normal schedule, hunker down in a busy city like the Dantooine Mining Outpost, and make "a bunch of money slicing".

Or they could give their surplus to some of the Novices who are still grinding out the Slicing tree. Just a thought...

From the way the concept thread worded things, I just assumed that the current tools would become obsolete, and I've been working on that assumption since then; it never occurred to me that current tools might be converted. I'll probably just use the stack I have until they run out (keeping backone clamp and one knife as souvenirs of "the old days"
).

I too would like to know. I run a very profitable spice and tool buisness out of Naritus's largest most visited mall. This change could either be a boon or a killer. Either i only have to stock one tool, or tools last so long that it doesnt pay to make them.
