Smuggler Archive

Can these be sliced open when locked? I've been out with a master smuggler buddy twice now in caves and run across these items locked... both time when they tried to slice it open they got a message that the locking mechanism is broken. Is this rotten luck, or are they unopenable by nature when found locked?

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

This is a separate issue from the respawn timer. Occassionally one of these containers will spawn in a "locked" state. It actually says the container is locked when you d-click it. What I'm wondering is... can a smuggler slice it open when locked? The two times I've seen it tried, the master smuggler has failed. I figured the smuggling community would have enough experience with these to tell me one way or the other if they were openable via slicing or not.

To answer your question. Not at the moment. This has been an issue for quite a while (read: since launch).
