Hmmm i dont think so.
Although, i would love the idea of being able to 'tag' my slicing, in the same way the item maker gets credit. Perhaps an option to add your name? eg:
Item Created By: (insert crafter here)
Item Sliced By : Barn Damascus.

Not a new idea.
But since most everyone is either a high ranking Imperial or puts their sliced goods in storage on a bot, the "Imperial Crackdown" means nothing, no matter how many negatives are or could be associated with it.

Definatly make slicing a more expencive, valuable, and rare service, but there is lots of potential for griefing. I think that smugglers should get some kind of mod that effects when they slice the weapon whether or not the person will remember who they were when Stormtroopers queston them. So an experienced smuggler can keep a low profile and cover his tracks, while a neophyte would be sloppy and be soon caught.
The whole crackdown needs to have harsher penalties and/or make searches much more frequent. Less than 1000 credits is nothing and being made overt , (rebels anyway) , is merely annoying and leads to noobs dying. Maybe instead of 1 single bounty being placed, how about each consecutive time a sliced items gets scanned its another 1000 added to the smugglers bounty? I would love to see something to this implimented, but only after we get revamped.

Slicing would become for smugglers only. Hmm that might not be bad If we where the only ones with sliced weapons and armor we would have some serious pvp advantages.
