Hello Fellow Smugglers,
I have been lurking here for some time now (ever since I cancelled my subscription) but with the 10 trial for us quiters in effect I have a little life here!
What can I say?, same s h i t different day!
I played a smuggler during phase 3 beta and for nearly 1 year of live and here smugglers are STILL a year away from any significant enhancements. How sad. I salute those of you that have the patience to stick it out, I dont know how you can be so pationate and so patient at the same time ( I sure couldnt, the frustration just made me quit).
FYI, I spent 2.5 hours last night on Ahazi running around with my Master Smuggler tag on (My chars were still there!) and not once did I get a tell asking to slice something! At the time when I quit I couldnt leave my master tag on without being flooded with tells requesting slices. So whats the deal are weapons being made that make slicing irrelavent or is this power-up exploit really taking all the business?
Anyway, you guys keep fighting the good fight!! I doubt I willcome back, unless Lucas Arts really tells SOE to take a hike and after (when or IF!) the Smuggler revamp happens I might check it out. I just cant support SOE anymore.

Welcome back...for whatever it's worth.
As far as your question about business goes, it's probably a combination of things.
1) Most Weapon shops now include Sliced Weapon vendors.
2) P-up Slicing is running rampant on most servers, thus taking away from those of us who are trying to remain "honest".
3) (In my experience) Most of the server population is now concentrated on Dath, Corellia, or Dant...bouncing back and forth trying to get buffed and working on capping various forms of XP for conversion into whatever Force Sensative tree they're going for at the moment. So, unless you're on one of those planets, you won't be doing much business.
and
4) Slicing prices have pretty much universally increased in price. I think 10k per is pretty much the average now...with some still going for the X00c / % method, while some choose a sliding scale. So, even when I am tagged and searchable and do get the random /tell, after I let them know that I charge 10k per slice, they often choose to go somewhere else.
*shrug*
It appears that the days of "/tell Hell" are gone.
