Thread: synergy
- The interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects.
- Cooperative interaction among groups, especially among the acquired subsidiaries or merged parts of a corporation, that creates an enhanced combined effect.
Now, what the heck am I talking about you may ask. We already see an example of this in alot of the proffessions, particularly the combat proffs, in way of their bonuses to hit or dodge, etc. What if there were skills added to the game that were only available if you had certain branches "mastered", for example, if you had engineering 4 and slicing 4 you could then slice ship parts, or perhaps get a bonus to slicing. It could give more of reason to do something other than the standard "triple threat" build that so many do, not that there is anything wrong with that. Pistol lovers already do something akin to this by taking the DF branch, the bh pistol branch and mastering pistoleer.
It wouldn't have to be limited to the above slicing example, many proffs could get some new skill sets with concept. Anyroad, just thought I would throw it out here pondering, take care all.
The Triple Master is there because it capitalizes on the requirements of the Smuggler, adding speed and accuracy to the pistols, as well as damage and speed to Unarmed.
Now, about your idea of branch mastery combinations granting bonuses. While the bonus to slicing is not a good idea, the basic idea of granting skill bonuses is good. However, this has been brought up several times before.
