With the proposed Smuggler Revamp, will they simply be looking at us as ground Smugglers with the space side taken care of because "You now have the SA to get missions with"?
If they do not distinguish exactly what a Smuggler Alliance pilot is now and stop refering to them as space smugglers, it is going to make it very difficult for the ground Smuggler prof to be meshed into a viable Space/Ground combination without all the non-smuggler SA pilots screaming at them they are smugglers also.
Yes, we may say that they are "not really Smugglers", but the Devs have already shown that they are prepared to sacrifice a profs abilities in an attempt to pacify the majority with the Imperial/Contraband debacle.
Gah, just rambling because I see so much potential and so little feedback.

From what I've seen from GM, Smuggler (i.e. us) will have both ground and space content, without the need for being in the SA. Of course I can't confrim that'll be the case, but if it's anything different, sticky brown stuff will be hitting the fan.

Just so long as the space content we get as ground-smugglersis different from the smuggler-esk content than anyone in the privateer tree has access to ...
I doubtthey are going to allow Imperial pilots to join "The Bounty Hunters Guild" or for rebel pilots to join "The Jedi Council" -- there is no excuse for smugglers to be the only profession to not get the basic respect of keeping their profession WITHIN THIER PROFESSION... I'm still ticked off that our profession is the only one that is given away for free (even if in name only ... it's just insulting).

Yeah, and if it is just for the point that our name is the only thing that makes us Smugglers.

Well in all fairness I think that DOT weapons are fairly major infringements in to the CM territory

I hate DOT's, i think they ruin PvP because the better fighter doesnt always win because his adversary is richer or looted a better weapon, its not based on skills at all /shrug

Yea, I think that DoT and legendary weaponry ruin PvP. If weapons were more "soft-capped", or in other words almost equal, the gentle environmentthat strategy needs to live in to flourish will exist.

I am a Smuggler who is an Alliance pilot, I want to be considered a 'smuggler' no matter where I am.

I'm not sure I agree with the idea, but even if I do, it doesnt seem to be a related problem if my opinion. I mean...a CM can infact inflict a DOT himself and I dont get recognized as a "biological warfar agent" when I wield a DOT weapon. The issue is that people who are not smugglers are being called smugglers and getting smuggler content as good as or better than a real smuggler. The further issue is that the DEVs are promoting an environment where people talk about "space smugglers" vs. "ground smugglers" and that is a very insulting and dangerous environment for a real smuggler to be in.
