Okay, I've got a CRAZY template idea that would create a VERY badass Smuggler template. Ready to hear it?????


Okay!


Master Smuggler

TK 0100

CM 4000

Commando 0003

Pistoleer 0400


First off all, this template is designed for one thing only: ultimate survivability and the ability to lay states on massive groups of people/creatures.


With TK 0100, you will get Improved Center ofBeing, adding +500 to your defenses (total of 615 melee and 620 ranged). Impressive!!!


With CM 4000, you will get incredible healing power. Matched with +1200 Stim D's, you will be healing almost as well as a Jedi.


Master Smuggler... goes without saying. Great Crowd Control and nice states.


Commando 0003 grants access to the Acid Stream Launcher, a wicked heavy weapon with an AoE that is conical in shape and sweeps out a LARGE area. This bad boy has a range of 64 or 65 meters. It has a chance to blind your target. It also has NO DoT, which means that once you Concussion Shot a group of people, the DoT won't break the mez!!!


Pistoleer 0400 grants nice accuracy, but also a special to stun and a special to temporarily disarm your opponent for up to 5 seconds or until they take further damage.


The drawbacks.... there are drawbacks. Even with the heavy weapons mods added, you are looking at a total of +50 speed and +165 accuracy. A nice speed powerup can rectify the speed nicely, but the accuracy doesn't seem enough to stick states very well. It is possible to buy some +200 ranged accuracy drink, but that only lasts 30 seconds or so, and might not even work at all! In addition, this template has 1 unused skillpoint that can only gain +3 general ranged accuracy.


If the chance to lay states on players caught in the AoE cone is not affected too much by accuracy, then this template is all you will ever need to make sure you are laying states on enemies until the end of a battle.

I tested the CoB that comes at Unarmed I today, and it does. It doesn't work if you have a weapon in your hand, but the fix for that is quite simple: unequip, hit CoB, then re-equip your weapon.


BTW, for those who don't know. Every smuggler right now has access to a 25 second CoB that adds +250 to all of your defenses.... no joke.

In theory though, if you had Concussion Shot and coupled it with a Commando Weapon, you'd never really NEED medical skills....

Interesting. I found a post on the BH forums about a Duelist Stance/COB macro - it seems like it could turn a BH/Smuggler into a rather heavy tank if it indeed stacks as the post says.

Actually, considering that Concussion Shot in itself is quite enough for self preservation, the CM 4000/TK 0100 combo would be best used for a profession spending most of its time dealing damage or that lacks a good mez.

Wow, the Jedi trolls ate his thread up fast didn't they?


I also heard that Duelist Stance no longer increases defenses. I think I tested this before I left the profession. No damage was mitigated when I hit Duelist Stance. Still though, if you could pick up TK 0100 and use it in conjuction with Duelist Stance (if/when it gets working), you are looking at a supertank.

Just tested it on a Kashyyykian grey con monkey - it reduced the damage from 57 or 41 to 47 or 33 (well if I'm reading the combat log right ) and the defense modifier was 160.

Hmmmm, what is the mitigation with the Unarmed I CoB added in conjunction? You could theoretically get TK 0100 and stack the improved CoB with Duelist Stance to get defenses up to 800.

I'd have a better chance at finding out if I wasn't MBH/Mpistoleer/Carbs 44xx

Errrr... Smuggler/BH/TKA anyone?

(I'm betting 2 million spacebucks that the COB/DS working this way will somehow get changed though, as it's, as far as I can tell, the only skill combination that provides extremely high defense modifiers apart from the J...you-know-what skills.)

Yep CoB works fine for Smuggler,


I have been constructing a template based on my character's RP history. Lately I have been leveling up one handed and two handed melee. I have Master Smuggler and Dancer xx4x. I am adding TKA 21xx and Fencer xxx3. I have been killing mobs one and two levels below to survive in melee since I am stuck in Brawler right now.


I pull them with my pistol and knock off about 30% life. Root them down close, imp overwhelming shot, panic shot, low blow, click melee weapon in toolbar, CoB then charge in for melee XP. So far it's been working fine. The two handed xp has been harder than the one because all I could find was a crappy CL 30 axe. My one handed weapon is CL50.


BTW feign death works fine with a melee weapon. The equip time isn't that bad, I just keep my pistol and melee weapons in the toolbar. One click and they switch.


CoB is worth it, definitely. In addition I have been doing this with no armor, and crappy stim C. I am CL 55 currently and what I was killing was 54/53.


I can't wait to try improved Center of Being and stacking bleeds. This might be odd, and its fun.

As someone else suggested I could see a Smuggler going after TKA x1xx just for imp CoB. Use it then equip your pistol, viola!

I'm MSmug/MCommando/4404 Pistoleer and it's going to totally be FOTM when/if they turn concusion into a mez. With a rocket launcher you'll have an area KD w/ mez, this will be invaluable for group PvP.
