Smuggler Archive
Thread: Alright Smugglers, it's up to you to decide what I do.
I've always wanted to be a smuggler, so of course that was my profession of choice. Pistoleer compliments it well, so I decided why not. Now, 3 months after I got the game, i've forged my way far in smuggler and pistoleer, gained a small fortune, and joined a guild.
My concerns about playing..
1. I master Pistoleer and Smuggler, what else is their to do concerning the profession aspect of this game? I wouldn't want to drop either of those professions, but at their current state, they're honestly broken.
2. This 'force sensitive' thing. I don't fully understand it yet..and how would it affect me, and how it might affect me later. A revamp could make it involve smugglers somehow, and I might miss out on it. Say I turn the old man down? What happens if later a bonus to smugglers is included?
I don't like SoE's antics of forcing FS on everyone and everything moving in the SWG world..worse decision, ever...
That would be sealing your fate, you can accept the quests and just never do them...
I say don't quit, you havent been here that long ( going by your date registered on forum ) and you should stick around and see what the GCW and combat revamp do, plus JTLS.
I was master pistol, master smug for a while, i did the tka pistol smugger combo for a while and now am doing the desperado, 0043 pistol and master smuggler template, and i have a blast playing.
Force sensitive skills are optional, nothing essential to playing, but there are certain skills that give you better accuracy, better speed, more luck, so forth...

the biggest and gayest flaw of the SWG universe, is that we are allowed to be jedi.
If they took HALF the effort they put into this overpowered "elite" class BS and put their effort into making the game content driven, where you feel a sense of adventure, and some sort of MEANING in the various quests... the entire game would be better.
Instead, we are caught up running through hoops trying to attain the "golden sceptre" of aprofession that isnt even supposed to exist in the galaxy. Luke was the last of the friggin Jedi once yoda died... instead, everyone in creation is going to be force sensitive to augment their character.
I hate to say it, but I am considering cancelling myself. If they can bork up the on the ground version this bad, Im not sure I even want to see what they do to the "in space" version.
The game has alot of innovative ideas, unfortunately, making the advancement system a watered down mission based Anarachy Online, really took the soul out of the potential of the game. When was the last time we really felt challenged with a group mission? When was the last time it was really rewarding to participate? SWG is a game ... with no game.

What I fear .. and you touched on very well is that a Master/anything with FS skills will beat out someone who stays true to the class. If I am a Master Smuggler and take TKM or Commando. and notdo themissions then I am less thensomeone who does. I know the force slot is very tempting but it willFORCE everyone to addFStemplate to every class. Crafter will drop other classes to go FS and so will combat classes. Hell even Entertainers will start the FS quests to add to there skills.they will be passing out forces points like Pez© candys..I want a jedi and I more then understand why they did it. but to make everyone able to add force skills to even crafts just seems to be a bit over the top.. now the question is why not make a jedi it will make the class you started better. I am all for force skills but not for master. The Master class rank should stand for something. Your a Master of that class.. it shouldn't be like "oh who cares" I remember the first time I saw a master BH I was like .. Wow ..Sweet A master .. that must have been hard.. now its like yeah I did that in a week.

"will say this though, someone who is FS in any combat class, pending on what area that individual is Force Sensitive in, should absolutely have an advantage over a player who is not. I look at Force Sensitivity as the level past Master. This gives persons such as myself, who have become Masters of there Professions (and in my casefor 1 year plus) toactuallybe able to use thereprofession."
And of course, naturally they shouldchange the games titleto ... "Jediquest" and not star wars galaxies.
Adding post master skills, "advanced" skills to each profession would have been preferable, not just to the THEME of star wars, but also gives each profession a little bit of love. As it is, the game is currently becoming more and more anti-thetical to the theme.
