I know I am. I don't want FS skills. I want to stay just a normal SWG character. Screw SOE and making everyone be able to become jedi. Looks like i'll be a "minority" now in this game. heh.
Who else is going to give the old man the bird?

I must know what happens when someone tells the old man: "No.. I will not hold the crystal."

Well apparently he keeps coming back over and over again...lol.
You can just deal with him then kill the two sith that come after you. At that point YOU have to take the initiative to continue so if you don't then you'll stay the way you are.
Even if you do continue though you aren't Jedi just because you unlock some of the FS skill branches.
EVEN after you train in those skills you aren't Jedi or even close. You have to then take the initiative to do the padawan quests.
Personally my smuggler will take selective FS branches to augment smuggling...not like we DO alot of smuggling though. *rolls eyes* And, your so-called normal old citizens can STILL be sensitive to the force and even know how to use it a little....doesn't make you even CLOSE to jedi though.

I'm doing the FS quest just to get my second character slot. Once I get that, I am going back to my normal template on my main

yeah he keeps coming back heh
/shrug
whah? I was busy....
I was err in the heat of some agressive negotiation with a local storm trooper detachment when the old man decided to interupt. Unfortunatly, the Stormies would not be deterred from their task (couldnt break agro). After waiting a bit the old man got nervous and ran off.
He came back while I was meditating about 10 minutes later. I would say if he comes speak with him, accept his crystal, and if the sith come then dispatch them. Those are supposedly random occurances and who knows what bug may pop up later on to prevent them. After that going to the village, or notis your choice.

If that old man comes near me I'll pistol whip his frail ass with my DE-10.
Then probably kick him while he's down.
Then verbally abuse him.
Then continue on my way.
The last thing this galaxy needs is another damn jedi.

My thoughts exactly. lol I'm going to stay just the way I am. I love my character's template and I don't like the fact that SOE decided to make it where everyone can become a jedi. can you say KOTOR? Bunch of chicken **edit** is what they are.
Anyway I will not follow the trend like everyone else is doing and get FS slots. I'm not a bandwagon rider.

I'll talk to him. I don't want to play a Jedi but I do want the second character. Heck, just for the extra lots I would be happy. I currently have medium Tat house, a Forward Outpost and my Spice Factory, leaving me with one lot. I really want to be able to place multiple harvesters to get the resources for my spice.

Actually, after you dispatch the two Sith Shadows(read: wannabes) that jump you, if you don't loot the datapad, and take out the camp, then they will keep jumping you. Once you clear thier camp, then you can go about life.
