Only smugglers could handle (trade) contraband. That would be sweet. Then any sliced weapon or spice would have to go through a smuggler. Then at least we could smuggle stuff between players. Man...neat.
I would also love it if I found enough money under a bridge to be comfortably wealthy for the rest of my life and I didn't have to work.
And I would love it if we could program the weather or cars would drive themselves or plane tickets were cheaper.
I would love a lot of things.

A lot of Smugglers feel that way, but I personally wouldn't want to hand-deliver every bit of spice anyone wanted (if anyone wanted any). That is the province of the people we're supposed to smuggle the spice to.
Having to come to smugglers for slices, I agree with. It's a personalized upgrade to the weapon/armor and whould be handled in-person.
EDIT: And yes, the rest of the stuff you mentioned would be nice.
