Thread: HEY WES!!!!
Look for it late next week, at the earliest.
Devs have been scrambling to fix the fix of the fix for the CH bug.... among other things.
I'd really be surprised if anyone is even in the office the Friday before the 4th. I'm surprised I'm even here at my job.
Hot Fix

On Saturday, July 2nd, 2005 at 4:00 AM PDT all servers will be taken down to make more bugs by trying to fix what we broke when we tried to fix other things that were broken by some of our earlier fixes which got broken. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but you might as well get used to it because it's the new way that things are done around here.
What's wrong with our loot drops? There a specific bug, or is it just the system in general?

not neccessarily a bug as the drop rate, the simple kits for teir 2 slicing arent dropping like they said they would,im tired of killing npc's and not getting even the simple kits, they said teir 2 simple kits would be a common drop and that teir 3 and 4 would be rare, but it seems the teir 2 timer is set on rare.
Ok, I gotchya. Seems to me that needing to loot the simple kits is stupid anyway, since you'll need one for every slice *and* may need several. Just let us craft 'em and be done with it.
Hell, do the same with Finely Crafted Kits. Put the schematic at Master. If a meatlump can make the things, why can't we??

Because the economy is loot oriented now as in others MMORPG like WoW

Isn't this what the original devs stated would never happen. I mean under the old system we had loot drops to improve player crafted items. But totally removing player crafters was something they never had in mind. I can understand havingthe final slicing items as loot drops. But would it have been so hard to makethe low to mid level slicing itemsplayer crafted? Or perhaps instead of putting the higher slicing items of insane mobs maybe making them into loot kits perhaps?
Screw it. Typical of SOE. Kill the fly with the bazooka and call it good.
Looting slicing componentsshould make top endslices rare but not medium / low ones.
The slicing should work as other crafting.
There should be a 2 way slicing process :
- Slice an item with crafted tools onlyand get regular results.
- ORadd a looted component in the slicing process and have a nice slice.
This way the hardcore gamer can manage to getthebests weapons - armors and others playerscan stay away from the pain to have to get this stuff.
With the looting idea we need to be able to stockpile all looted items in huge stack regardless of serial numbers.
Means : don't add pain to sort and manage inventory and increase database size...
The hint to do some reverse engineering on looted weapons is great.
At last the idea to bring slicing to looted components is :
- griefing the lonely smugglers
- promoting camping
- lowering acces to slicing for the customers
- increasing item management and Database size
- creating an insatisfaction for players, loot drop rates would never ever be enought
At the end to get a top noch weapon a player will need to :
- camp mobs for weapon schematics
- camp mob for weapon components
- camp mob for slicing components
This seems a bit too much for weapons wich decays on usage very fast and can't be repaired with some fair succes rate.
