Thread: Master Smuggler getting 12% slices?
yep, i've been master smuggler and master artisan for months... and got anything from 9% to 45% on armors and form 13% to 35% on weapons. That's to say sometimes you'd rather be a novice with slice III and get better results.
That's one major complaint about slicing, from customers AND from slicers, since people know that's it's random on effect, random on numbers, they buy more and more weapons or armors just to get the slice they hope, certain people destroying the "bad" slices, other just putting them on vendors.
Some smugglers would say it's good for business since we have lots of equipment to slice, I would answer that's bad for my pleasure to stay here and just slice crates of weapons. We're supposed to be travellers, we're not supposed to be slicing bots.
Besides this way of acting makes us partly responsible for the crazy economy ingame, people want THE good slice, so they buy 5 composites sets, they want the good damage? they buy a crate of T21... that is not a really responsible way of consuming.
Do you slice in bulk? Sitting for long periods of time slicing you normally get your fair share of shocking slices.
I always get sub 15%'s (usually on my own stuff). I've sliced a few things for people this past evening, and everything seemed to be very low (low to mid 20's on 6 straight). Saddest thingis my highest was a 28% speed on a powerhammer. Somebody needs to do something to make this more consistant for Master's, considering we've spent all that time leveling and whatnot.
Seriously..it's quite pathetic that a master of a profession can get roughly the same percentages as a level 1-4 slicer. C'mon SOE/Lucas..you programmed the randomness into slicing, how about you make it a little less possible for the Master Smuggler to get sub 15% slices? I don't think it would be that difficult.
I usually slice weapons/armor in large amounts
sometimes I get no slice under 25% with a cool amount over 30%
sometimes I can slice like 100 weapons and get like 20 or 30 under 20% and none over 30%
got 2 11% encumbrance slices on armors yesterday, I felt so bad that I bought new pieces for the guy and resliced em. then I gave the bad slices to some new player (well actually I bought a full set for that dude lol, was in a good day yesterday, the guy got 1.4 speed VKs, Sliced Composite armor, 110 med/all stations/item droid, Speederbike and 15k credits to get started LMAO, thank god I don't do that everyday !!)
I do a lot of bulk slicing, mostly weapons, and I've only gotten under 15% 2 or 3 times. It's armor that gives me the 11% slices, especailly composite. I heard something about there being a cap on armor and weapons stats, and that's why we get low slices on the really highend equipment - it just can't go any higher. So if you get an 11% effectivenessslice on your customer's 70k 80% everything comp helmet, just tell themthey've maxed the stat cap for that armor, that generally makes the 11% easier to take.
Or try using your karma and good thoughts (positive thinking leads to high slices! - please please please please please please please please!)
Actually I am inclined to agree on that, There has to be some kind of cap on armor and weapons. I sliced 4 sets of ubese armor yesterday, all were effect slices, and I Ranged from 17 to 22% and the base effective never went above 20%. So yea I do believe there is a cap. And it may have something to do with the quality of the weapon or armor being sliced. Crappy made weapons tend to give me better slices than just regular or top of the line weapons, due in fact I think to a cap placed on every weapon.
OK, I would like to add my pathetic issue. Been at Slicing IV for about a week now, and I fail about 50-70% of all my slice attempts! I make sure to buy really good upgrade kits and make my laser knives, analyzers and clamps out of the best stuff I can find, but I still screw it up. I haven't been slicing for other folks b/c I don't wanna ruin their gear, so I've been stockpiling cheap weapons to practice. I know I must be doing something wrong, but I can not figure out what. Any ideas? Thanks all-

Ok. Can anybody tell me what's going on? I have been master smuggler for many months now and my slices are getting worse and worse...and i am using 99.9% xperimented tools. (I understand that doesn't affect the outcome) Are any other smuggler getting these lousey results as well? I mean slices in the 12percent range...ewww
