For the knives and clamps you need an equipment factory and for the spices you need a food factory.
When crafting you just chose to make a schematic instead of a prototype. Remember that the resources used for the schematic has to be the same as the ones used in the factory run.
Happy crafting

You need to be near a crafting station as well as you can't make schematics with just a general/weapon crafting tool

This isn't an issue if you can get your hands on a metal recycler/smelter which converts all copper to one generic form. Then if you make the schem with that copper, you can use it over and over again with any copper you can get your hands on.
I highly recommend getting a smelter for smugglers since all our tools use the same resource and quality doesn't matter. With a smelter you can buy all the cheap lots of copper on the bazaar without regard to type, convert it all to a generic copper with the smelter and put it into the factory.
It also makes running a factory easier because you can leave the schem in it and just keep feeding it copper.

They do, but you could do like 100 shems, and you wont have to worry ot run out of ressources. if ou could put more than one shem into the factory.... *sigh*

You are right, I forgot about the schems only being good for 1000 crates, but it's hard enough to find enough unique copper for 1000 uses. The smelter allows you to not ever worry about it. You can just keep putting in generic copper until the schem runs out, then make a new one. And consider 1000 crates is 25,000 clamps, which might just hold you over until the revamp and all the tools change.

If you are opening a tools vendor/shop, stay away from my territory, or I'll send the boys round!

Ok, 1000 items, sorry. The point I was making wasn't the number of the charges in a schem, but how the smelter helps with producing tools.

1000 items, not 1000 crates.
