Sure.. let merchants sell contraband on vendors. They just gain visibility based on the amount of contraband and how long it has been on the vendor.

Once their visibility reaches a certain level:

  • Skill "Rat Out" - Smugglers with Underground1 can rat outthe merchantso the cops raid them.

  • Skill "Hit Men" - Smugglers with Underground2 can hire a BH "hit man" and take out the competition.

  • Skill "On the Take" - Smugglers with Underground3 can protect their own vendors.

  • Skill "Protection Racket" - Smugglers with Underground4 can offer "Protection" to others.

Mothing personal against Merchants, just business.

As a smuggler and a merchant I could definitely live with that.

Interesting idea. So my master smuggler could protect my weaponsmiths vendors. What actual implementation would happen though with someone ratting out my vendor. It is a lot of skill points to get master merchant.

very interesting. I think smugglers should be the basis for visibility. We see the crime take place, based on our underground 'connections', someone gets visibility, and we get rewarded =)

Not really... don't sell contraband and the Merchant will be fine andthere are alot of merchants who do that.

But if the merchant want's to play the field, then they will need the skills or hire someone with the skills. They can even decide that they don't needit and suck up the losses as a cost of doing business.

Once again proposals for the introduction of non-smuggling related Smuggler skills...what's with that?

Smugglers are snitches and run protection rackets as much as they are gamblers, crafters of fine furniture, drug manufactureres, etc.

Get the point? We already have a whole slew of skills unrelated to SMUGGLING...why do we want more of the same? I want to SMUGGLE.

I think the protection racket is poorly named but it is a Smuggler skill. Your hiding the location of Smuggled goods. As for snitches I would let any one with good standing with the local police or empire do this its not a Smuggler skill. Player Bounty on a snitch? Not likely to happen.

How about this tho A Snitch earns a badge each time he tells the police about a vendor that should be "reward" enough for a snitch

It was a JOKEaimed atMerchants selling contrband with no risk.

You are right, Smugglers are snitches and run protection rackets as much as they are gamblers, crafters of fine furniture, drug manufactureres, etc..

But SMUGGLING does not EXCLUDE any of the above.

This is a wonderful idea.

Why shouldn't they? If people are randomly scanned for contraband, why not vendors?
