Like my self quite a few of you have been playing TC to troubleshoot our prof. Looking at it from a strickly smuggler combat point of view do you think that we are better off with our new combat role or would you rather go back to the old 4 skill combat tree? Smuggler C.U. Yea or Neigh?

I don't think the new game has legs. But maybe that's because I'm only part here for the combat. I'm seeing a lot of the nuances of the game (mostly in the crafing professions) one could obsess over removed. Replaced by some others, but it just doesn't feel like the depth is there anymore. And really the two things that keep me going in this game are community and obsession, even post CU there will be hotter action elsewhere if I just need to get my adrenaline going.

Don't get me wrong, I'll jump on and i'll have fun figuring things out, strenghs and weaknesses, hope to get some big battles going, but the 'downtime' aspects of the game seem to be lacking.. be it silly weapon caps meaning it really won't be a 'quest' to get really hot acklay or krayt stuff in combat, or the hits my doc will be taking (or any hybrid template really), or the hits AS, WS, Chef seem to be taking. Just going to be a lot less time before people feel they've "done it all" in this game.

Froma strictly smuggler POV I'd say Yay:

1. We have a more defined Role in Combat and more combat abilities to boot (even if quite a few are broken I DO expect them to be fixed)

2. Spices Have been made Level with Other buffs.

3. More Balance means more PvP, more PvP means more active GCW, Which means More bases and Turrets will be needed, which is good for business.

The Down side:

1. We now need Pistol/Combat XP to level all of our Trees. Understandable with our combat abilities spread out, but still could use adjustment. I for one think we as a community should ask the Devs to make at least one of these Trees (maybe two) require Smugling XP after our Revamp. Smuggling XP would be earned by completing smuggler missions

2. Slicing is almost totally broken in the CU. We haven't gotten any feedback on it so we don't know if that is unique to TC or otherwise, still as they are going to completely change slicing in the smuggler Revamp I see it as a waste of breath for us to complain about the CU affects.

From an overall game perspective I still say Yay:

1. Many people complain that now they can't wear every kind of Armor.. but is basically true in live right now, though you *CAN* wear any kind at any time, you *CAN'T* survive a fight wearing any kind other than Composite. In the CU I've seen much more variaty in armor, most of which I've never seen before and alot of which was already in the game.

2. RP aspect: Effective Factional Armor (Huzzah!)

3. Balance? Thus far the CU seems much more balanced than Live (though a 1 legged Chair would fit the same descrition). There is still some concern about Melee Profs not being able to compete with ranged. Hopefully use of Terrain(which now blocks LOS) and group-based tacics should overcome that, though that remains to be seen.

4. Groups. I absolutely LOVE how a group of people is actually needed to fight top level Mobs and Bases. Who ever wanted to solo the Acklay anyway?

The Negative:

1. Professional Crafters not able to Harvest resources cause they can't defend themselves. I really hope this gets looked at, since I like buying crafted Items for relatively low prices.

2. Magicky particle affects I think most of us are in agreement that I don't think my feet should glow when I shoot someone... I like muzzle flashes, but most other affects could be less magicky, smaller (and hopefully less laggy too)
