Thread: slicing prices after the change
My prices will be in direct proportion to how much time it takes to slice a weapon and how much resource usage there is.
If it's a fairly complex system that takes a while to do, 25K and up wouldn't be unreasonable.
This was my idea, and it was based on the slicing doc in the concept forum. According to Veela, that's changing and she's the only one who knows how much, and she can't tell us. We don't even want her to cheat and whisper it to us bacause we want them to keep telling her.
Anyway, my plan was based on two factors: 1) weapons are at different levels now. 2) There are different levels of customization, from 1-100. I was going to combine the two. 50cr per level of the weapon off the top -- probably round down to a 25k max for a lvl 54 weapon. Then I was thinking of around 250cr / customization level. That would top everything out at 50k. Given the cost of good weapons, I think that's fine.
Let's not forget about the other aspect of the slicing revamp... tuning. Again, we don't know if this'll be there when it goes live or not, but people will need their weapons tuned on a regular basis. From the sound of it, this'll be something quick and easy -- like slicing is now. I'm thinking 5k flat rate for tuning.
Still haven't figured out armor yet, but it'll probably top out at 75k for a full set. Again, look at the prices people are paying for armor. If they're willing to pay that much to armorsmiths for making it, they can pay me 75k for making it better.

tuning sounds like a weaponsmiths problem give me the gun ill slice it and get lost let the ws do the repairs.
You're forgetting something.
Retuning weapons = return customers = more money = happy Smuggler
Some Smuggs are worried about going back to the "Slice Monkey" or "Tell Hell" of the old days. I just think of it this way, if it starts to become a pain in the butt, I'll just jack up my prices accordingly until the "annoyance vs. profit" ratio works for me.
That would be the winning line of this thread. I can't say how I will price until the system is implememented. It is just a blind guess with no foresight trying to set prices now until we have actually tried it to see if it is quick and easy or a pain in the butt. Also it won't be changing from 5k-50k for me asthe original poster stated... I haven't sliced for 5k in over a year due to "Tell Hell" and "Slice Monkey" crap. Currently sit at 15k per slice and will remain there until I have tested the new system, if it is time consuming it could run anywhere from my current price of 15k to 500k if I hate it. I just want to smuggle... slicing is just a side thing. It's like base blowing to me, icing on the cake.. let us smuggle.

Cost of slicing will depend cheifly on what it has ALWAYS depended on: the whim of the Master Smuggler being asked.
Because they need us more than we need them, and that, at least, isn't likely to change ever. None of us have to *rely* on credits from slicing(or spices, or combat-related things), and I don't think we're ever going to. therefore, you slice if you want to, and you charge what you like, and the public'll have to deal.
That said... I dunno. Looks like it's going to be somewhat tricky. I'm guessing at least 25K/slice, maybe higher.
