..then how about we just copy over their live code to our servers? We can cope with funny words.. hell, it can't be any harder to read than some of the stranger typo-laden RotW dialogue.

They won't copy anything over to our servers because you are American and they are Japanese.
I saw the way a japanese company treated its American players over on FFXI. When it comes to MMORPGs, they see us as second class citiczens, and thats all their is to it.
Just be glad they got their own servers. I left FFXI because CSR reps felt that japanese players had a right to say, do, and behave however they wanted. "Stupid American" was not considered a punishable slur, but "Stupid Japanese" was (I have a screen shot of a CSR explaining this to me). Japanese players actually made a point of letting American gamers know just how welcome they were. Square/enix's response ...? "Well, it is a Japanese game... they were here first"
I think Lucas will come to regret giving SOE any kind of control over this product. They have no interest in recognizing the cultural significance of Star Wars to American audiences; they are much too busy trying to force it to conform to their own iconic legends.
This time its adding Japanese Characters to every aspect of their chat interface. Next timewho knows what other completely irrelevant to us (but highly demanded by asian audiences) will be added. I'm betting its a ridiculous pokemon or yugi-oh type card game (that they'll no doubt call sabaac, sending me on a postal style rampage).
Get used to it guys. The Japanese servers will always be better maintained, more reliable, and infinitely more stable. They will always get what they want out of SOE before we do. Why? Because SOE is more interested in providing a service to their Japanese audience. The rest of us... they just want your money.

Ok, so I am not really Japanese, and my knowledge of the language is very very limited....
/shrug
Oh well.
(btw- that "stupid American"/"stupid Japanese" crap is total BS....thoughI would agree at this point in time Americans are second class citizens everywhere but here)
(btw #2 - I realize the above statement could be construed as political...and thus just ignore it)

The original post was to fake that Iam fluent in Japanese and thus would be prefectly happy in a Japanese server copy-over...but the nI had to admit that I don't actually know much Japanese.
