They really are? I didn't know that. It's kind of disturbing.
I played this game at launch and only recently came back, and I must say the ground game hasn't improved much. It's mildly entertaining, but only in a really mind numbing "blast this" "get that trophy item" "lolz i'm a jedi" sort of way. I came back because the space expansion really looks amazing, and a good star wars twitch game appeals to me.
It's gotten the point where I just laugh at the ground game, and what is either apathy or ineptitude on SOE's part. It seems like they really are putting alot of effort into JTL, and I hope it comes out well.

Why is that disturbing? One of the things SWG definately has going for it is the fact that it's an absolutely beautiful game visually. Just because they're using the same graphics engine doesn't mean that gameplay will be remotely similar, or the team will nerf the hell out of everything in sight.

I can see why they'd think it's disturbing, but it's more of a feeling than something I could easily describe while I'm this tired, heh. Don't forget they used the Quake III engine to make tons of games. =)

Expand, expand expand... pay lip service about fixing the game ... expand expand expand.... call the origional bugs, andproblems which everyone hates "intentional features"... Expand expand.
It is another example of bureacracy.
Smuggler revamp promised a year ago ... extended to "after the expansion."
I find myself asking; with all the expansions added to EQ, do monsters still hit through thewalls? Is autoattack the main form of pve combat?
I know, there are a ton of things I love about SWG; the trade system, a potential combat system, vehicles, etc... but there are tons of things which need to be dealt with. I can see that there has been effort at making each profession have some viability, but I question the methods; BH terminals/missions are probably still notorious for their non-playability, explorer mission terminals arent worth using since well... you can only have 2 missions, and the destroy missions pay more per time spent, delivery missions... LOL are so low paid that you could make more as a janitor.
The intentions for content are apparrently there, the methods are insufficient to make it even worth doing.
I foresee that the plan will be to hold out till JTL, while everyone is distractedwith it at release... either torpedo any plans for revamp, or finish a halfass version no one will be happy with anyway.
An idea is perfect in the mind, and usually not so in reality.
Perhaps privateer will merge with smuggler to create an intriguing new form of play, but I seriously doubt it-- one skillsetwill cancel the other, or both will suck. Probably the latter.
In any case, it may well be that ground combat ... and many ways of doing business on the ground, become obsolete.

Incorrect. EQ2 uses a completely different graphics engine than SWG does.

When I was a fencer I ealy thought I was playing EQ2 for a time. Went to a shaman (Doctor) and for my buffs in Free Port Commons (Theed) strapped on my plate mail (Composite) and mace (Stun Baton) And Called my Horse (Bolle) To Ride of and slay a dragon (Peko Albatross)
