Thread: Fraud?

It only happens if someone's inventory is so full that they can only accept one more item.

Basicly, the locked container you get isn't actually a container and doesn't have loot in it untill sliced successfully, that's why it only takes one unit of space. Now, if the guy only had one unit of space left, and he sliced the container, it could have vanished, because now it would be taking more space. But this typically happens when someone gets two or three, and the first container his thier remaining space, then the other two vanish when sliced, due to insufficient inventory. This could become more prevalent with the upcoming slicing nerf.

Did you get jypped? Its possible, although I'd doubt it due to the fact he paid you afterwards. I'd suggest getting in contact with the guy tomarrow and see if he'll clear some of his inventory to see if the container will show up, that's been known to happen as well.

Seems like he was being honest with you, I think that's supported by the 15k tip. If he was looking to rip you off, he could have just given you back the empty container (after ganking your uber-loot). They are sometimes empty, after all. In reality, containers are always loaded with junk with very few exceptions. I don't think getting the container off a difficult mob makes any difference at all.

I freak out. "What the heck do you mean?"

He says it is a known bug. He says that I am accusing him of stealing, and I basically am. We exchange words and I end it with just telling him to forget it and get the heck away from me. After a while, I can't figure out if I was being a jerk or if he was a liar. Half an hour goes by and he e-mails me telling me that he sent a message to the devs about it and bank tips me 15k. I got the container from one of Jabba's missions, so I imagine that there very well could have been SOMETHING in there possibly worth taking. Maybe he sold it and 15k was worth it. I don't know...

Long story short, I send him a /tell when I calm down and we both apologize for getting pissed at each other and I give him back the money he gave me and we call it a truce.

So, did he jack my container or is this a known issue? How does one handle this in the future? Should I demand smugglers give me collateral before giving a container? Advice on this matter would be great! I'd hate to think he was a crook, but I would also hate to hear that these glitches are common.

Thanks

He tipped ya so it was likely not a fraud. As for the loot in the container.....off a jabba mission? Big deal....containers don't have crystals in them anymore (it was posted a little while ago that they were removed from the loot list for containers). You get CDEF guns, survival knives, belts, pink shirts, etc.....there isjunk in them. There is no way there was anyhting worth more than 1K ro 2K in it. He was very generous with a 15K tip.

I learned the hard way what the second poster said... It could have been an inventory space problem.

I cost a couple of people their containers before I figured out what was going on.

As he said, the game adds itemsto containers when they are sliced (not before), then it tries to put them into your inventory.

If you inventory is out of space, the container (and its new contents) disappear.

I have never heard of them showing up later, but that could be possible i guess.

Also, I have opened probably well over 100 containers and the best thing I ever saw was a +3 food experimentation tape. So the odds of you having gotten something good out of there are pretty darn low.

Ya I have sliced tons of containers off of nightsisters and they give the same junk everything else gives, I have gotten a few CA and AA but thats very rare... like 1 out of a hundred will give you something that you actually might want to keep.

thats not entirely true, i purchased a force crystal and went to go look at it a few minutes later and didnt have a near full inventory. it is indeed something the devs are aware of. i submited a /bug and talk to a csr and was told to log and wait 15mins and the item should reappear and it indeed did, to my relief. as too the possibility of being ripped off by this smuggler maybe but not likely, i have sliced maybe thousands of containerssome off thugs, some ofNS and dark jedi even, since july last year and never seen anything worth more than the container personally, but i know there are exceptions to every rule. my hope in this case is that he gave you the 15k to save face as a human being first.

we are supose to dwell in the shadows and societies underbelly for the RP aspect for the most part; but not hurt people and having had it happen to me(items dissappearing)as a master smuggler for a long time i know there are gonna be bugs and such that look fishy. i even had a persons items disappear or look like they did when someone asked for a slice on a few item and the secure trade showed complete and the guy asked me for his items. i swore up and down that i gave them to him and was ready to get my /tip and /bug ready when i noticed my inventory didnt wrap correctly to show the items below still in inventory. resizing the inventory resolved it and i only had to use my /bug.
