Okay I'm ready to be flamed but here's my opinion (misguided as many of you may think and I may be in the minority).

I'm loving being a smug and have been one for a few months. I get steady business and am fairly independant (I can dig up and make just about every tool I require). Revamping smugs where they actually smuggle I believe will happen, I have faith it will and if it doesn't I'll still be a smug.

I hear a lot of talk about protests, sit-ins, etc. Quite frankly I think you smugs should move on...there are other professions out there. It's not easy being a criminal but for those who stick it out profit well. Kindly refer all your clients to me and I'll cut you in a few credits to help you in your new profession(s).

If you really want to make an impact threaten to quit your accounts, write the devs or something. I may consider doing just that for this "auto pull" crap but it's not enough for me to rant about (well not too much). Most of my displeasure about being a smug has not been from my customers (although we've all had a few gems who we wanted to DB) but from those smugs who complain about being one.

I'll buy your tools at wholesale and take care of your customers for you I promise.

Sit-ins and protests have not only done little-to-no good for their cause.Yet it has caused players to be banned, servers to be brought down and earned the anger of those who are negatively effected by it.

So if you want to risk your account, piss off those who could support us and generally make the lives of other players who might have supported our causehell depending on the results of the protest, I guess that is your decision.

Have to agree with Caylin. All you will do is piss off people trying to use Theed and Coranet. Slice or don't slice thats your call but shutting down the servers well thats not what we do as smugglers. (Maybe pick the pockets of the protestors thats more our style)

It's unfortunate but a few people writing SOE and threatening to quit is not going to do a bit of good. They could care less, with the release of JTL the devs and Lucas Arts realize that there will be a rush of fresh blood injected into this game. Unfortunately the bottom line is the dollar and always will be. I like the game, I love my proffession therefore I will continue to do what I can to make it and the game better. Making other people miserable is not an option in my opinion, but well organized and structured threads that grow can be quite effective when trying to get a Red names attention.

I agree I've only been a BH on gorath before I went smuggler when I moved to Kettemoor and I absolutely LOVE it. My profession lets me actually interact with people to make money and the only frustration I get is from a low slice which I know is up to chance anyway and not any glitch in the code.

Seems like in this game everybody hates their own profession and everybody thinks they should be a prioriety. To tell you the truth, besides the Underworld tree I think this profession is fine. So you cant pull from crates anymore, I posted a macro you can set up so you can pull stuff in a single key stroke, use it.

I also encourage all of you whiners, complainers, people who "feel cheated by the devs and soe" to leave the profession, I to am willing to take your customers however I will not give you any cut because I am a smuggler and I am greedy.

That is all.

not to flame you but you statement on a broad sense is misplaced and does not apply to everyone, you have been smuggler for a few months and eare excited about the future, some of us have been smugglers since july 2003 and were excited when late last year things were coming down the pipe and never happened and time after time month after month we get something that hurts us or really doeasnt apply to us and was nothing about what we were told was coming previously, i am sure if we asked the devs to hold the revamp another year you would be just as distraught as some of use that have been doing this over a year are.

i stay with smuggler cause its cool and it fits me, and i would like to see the changes asap and know that is not possible but stuff like having to now pull items out of crates to slice for examplegets you down. especially when it was reported on test, AND a devs said they were aware of it and that it would not be in live. and here it is

There's a quote about the original design of Galaxies that says it was too much like living the life of Uncle Owen and not enough like the life of Luke or Han Solo.

One of the reasons why such threads get this attention is because the devs know that some people, like myself too, not only read user opinions at places like amazon or something like that, but take a look at the forums too before they buy a MMORPG. If I had not started to look in here back many month ago but instead now, I would probably not have bought the game, not making a revamp for a few month is one thing, not doing it for a year is another. However, even though this was not my first MMORPG, I made a mistake back when the first month was over, which was to pay for a year. Now, since I already paid for it, I not only have the right to play but also complain about things which are not as they should be and I will certainly not shut my mouth in here just because someone doesn't like these kind of posts.

I agree that sit-ins and protests won't do us any good, it's the opposite. However bringing up the fact that there are big concerns, especially with our profession, is one of the most important things for me in this forum to show our red named, that we still care about it, to let people who haven't bought the game yet know what they are going to get, and to be able to discuss such concerns and maybe find solutions.

So MOD, if you made this thread to ask for no more sit-ins and so on, I agree, if you made it to ask for no more complaining, I have to give you an advice similar to yours, which was kind of "if you don't like the profession, don't play it", and this advice is "if you don't like these threads, don't read them".
