I rarely create new posts, but this one just caught my eye.

Character Transfers - Tyren on 8/1/05

To better balance overall realm populations, we are offering another round of voluntary character transfers to those players wishing to seek greener, lower population pastures. In addition to giving players the chance to adventure and do battle with an entirely new populace, this round of character transfers will help reduce queues on high-population realms.

Now....what SOE has

Character Transfer With Items is Now Available!
The Star Wars Galaxies community continues to grow each day. This community has evolved from the many fan sites, message boards, player associations, and from playing the game. Many times when a new friend is made in the community, that friend does not always play on the same Galaxy that you do. Now you can transfer your character with select items to the server you choose.

Soooo, did SOE buy out Blizzard? It didn't? Ohhhhh...that's right, we're playing World of Jedi right now. Or is it Warcraft Galaxies? I swear to god my account is closed if I see ONE flippin NPC go "Zub Zub"

Character transfer has beenavailable on SWG for awhile now... but they charge for it.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

SOE came up with character transfers (for $$$) back in the old eq1 days. It was a natural feature to add to SWG just as it is for any MMO. Its just a shame that you gota lay down more money to take your items with you.

Another thing that caught my eye.... when reading the instructions for City of Heros I was reading the color coded level system. Looks like SOE ripped that off from them. Maybe that's the game industry standard code, but it made me realize that SWG was just another game now.

Ah well, cancelled my 3 accounts - 2 of which ended today, this one in a few weeks. Hopefully the game turns around soon.

Cheers
