Howdy!
I recently had a pistol made. It is a Featherweight FWG5 with 871 max damage. I have read that the cap on damage on this pistol from slicing is 935. According to the "slicing assistant" an 8% damage slice would put this gun at 940.
Knowing that 940 damage on this pistol is impossible, here is my question: Will a smuggler be able to apply an 8% slice to reach the 935 cap, or will the smuggler be unable to apply the level 3 slice at all? Thank you kindly.

You may have a worse problem on your hands. Some of use have reported that there appears to be slicing cap on weapons that is different to the damage cap.
Now I have had two situations where I expected a carbine to cap but ended up at 1046. I suspect that is the carbine slicing cap. Someone mentioned something simular for pistols at 916. The rifle cap however was 1182. There is possibility that the power hammers may slice higher cap than the crafting damage cap.
This might be in a thread somewhere. If not we should start one with people putting in their findings.

Yes. I just sliced an 880 max damage Featherweight to 935. If you can't slice it, it will tell you.

Actually... it won't always tell you. If you're close to the slicing cap, which is lower than the crafting damage cap, sometimes it will just eat your component and not change your weapon at all.

I see what you mean. Oh well, if there isnt suppost to be a slicing cap I'm only losing out on 5 damage in this case.
