Ok everybody know there is no real smuggling in the game. They have other problems to look at etc. I have been thinknig about this a long time. Why not make more items illegal and have them get a certification to be passed planet to planet.

In anouther word make items like all sliced items, rare planet specific items and other things need certification to leave the planet. Smugglers can take items for players off planet and this will get the items cetrified to leave all planets or lets say imp and reb certification. So one faction and the other. This way illegal items cannot passthrough planets without smugglers, but once they do atleast once they wont need to be recertified.

While an interesting idea, this is something that has already been mentioned before, typically as restricted resources.

The problem, however, is that there needs to be a crackdown that's worth-while. Meaning, there needs to be a real risk involved in taking, say, a graul from Dantooine(its something that's common, so its okay), to a world where it wouldn't belong, such as Naboo. Sure, there are other natural predators, but introducing wildlife like that can screw up with ecology. Making it illegal to bring such a vicious predator to that planet.

Let us say the reason you're doing this is because there's a wealthy nutjob who likes exotic pets. So you're bringing him this big beast to him to make some scratch. Without a real customs system to cheat/bypass and/or a crackdown to deal with, all you're doing is a planet-to-planet delivery mission.

That's what we want, we want there to be laws, laws that mean something. Not these groups of Imperial NPCs who couldn't find a garage while inside it, and can be avoided so easily, that a player with Scout Exploration 4 can avoid being scanned.

I agree about the law part of it. that needs to be in place or tweaked. But it was an otherwise good idea.

I always liked the ideas of making every proffession able to acquire an illegal item or entity. The Smuggler is the only person who can "legally" transport them and acquire profit for them.

For example, in the case above...

A wealthy nutjob has a fascination with strong and exotic animals... he has decided that the creature he would love most of all.... would be a Katarn. So he does the following:

1) He gets in contact with a smuggler and tells him to get a ranger...
2) He contacts a ranger to find him the Katarn's nest and to capture a youngling.
3) The Ranger hires a Creature Handler to capture the Katarn
4) The CH and Ranger enlist the help of a hunting party... scouts, commandos, riflemen...
5) They use traps to capture a Katarn Youngling
6) They carry the beast to a secluded spot and transfer him over to a Smuggler with a required PoB ship.
7) The Smuggler breaks the Kashyyyk barricade and hyperspaces over to Naboo.
8) The Smuggler flies over to the Space Station and "bribes" the docking chief to let him land at a secluded spot.
9) The Smuggler arrives to his destination and makes the transfer of the beast over to the nutjob.

Added Content: After the smuggler gets the money, the Katarn breaks free, slaughters the nutjob and begins to attack you... The Smuggler Concussion shots him and flees as fast as his legs will take him.

The Price Breakdown is as follows: The Nutjob has set forward an alloted budget... 1,000,000 Credits for the beast Every person gets a certain amount of the nutjobs allotted fee. When the beast is captured... everyone in the group splits 500,000 Credits amongst eachother. They take the beast to the smuggler who can take it back to the customer and then he recieves his half of the 500,000 credits split amongst his group.

OR

The smuggler simply keeps the beast for himself... carries it off to Tatooine and Sells it to another player as a pet for 1,000,000 Credits. This places a bounty on his head.

The system works for any number items or entities. If the customer wants an Illegal Assasin Droid Protocal Chip from a droid engineer (I know this item doesnt exist, just hypothetical) he seeks out a smuggler and gives him the schematic data item and tells him to acquire the chips from a DE. The DE needs parts from a WEAPONSMITH for the Weapon Algorithms and ARMORSMITH for the Defense Algorithms. The DE Crafts 500 chips... gives them to a smuggler who can either return them to the customer or can keep them for himself... selling them to another player for a higher markup. If this happens... the Smuggler gets a bounty.

Any non-smuggler who is caught trying to screw the customer or the smuggler over gets a TEF, and is allowed to be shot by the smuggler. If the Smuggler fails to kill them, they are placed on the Bounty Hunter Terminals themselves and are fined by the Empire for breaking the law... this encourages non-smugglers to try and avoid cheating the system.

Just a rough idea.

Ooooooh! I like that! Which means that it will never be implemented..............

It is my intention to commandeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Mos Eisley, raid, pillage, plunder, and otherwise pilfer my weasly black guts out......wait, I'm a smuggler - back to crafting spice! Ahh, crap! Can't even do that anymore...guess I'll just sell FP. Can someone please tell me when Han did that in ANY of the movies?

Actualy i did come out with a whole certification systems for a law based system. I just had to post and run though but im glad the idea is out there. I figured each starport can be officialy owned by either the Rebels or Imperials, and Lord Vader has declared all trade of rare and valuable items will be restricted to there perspective planet. Hence cyrstals can't leave dant and krayt dragon items can't leave tat. At every single starport a scanner would check for illegal items on you and if you have them you have to get them certified to be carried off planet, for the possibility of reb to imp trading. if the scanner detects an illegal item a force field would stop you or a warning saying you will get tefed if you enter the starport will appear. Only two ways to get both factions approval on carrying illegal items. Either talk to lord Vader or mon Mathat who both wont allow it simply cuase of favortism and possiblity of spies. Other way is to talk to the posted security guard in which he will scan you and find the items and take them and let you pass. Well a trade secrete of and smuggler is disguise of things to get pass security or even good hiding. What the smuggler can do is trick the security guard into thinking the items are something else legal or simply so bad that if he confiscated it, it would be a hazard, like rotten food or mutant plagued rancor babies(in a container or something) So then the guard can give the item(s) certification for that faction and it will never need certification until you reach anouther factions starport in which you get a second certification allowing you to pass through both factions starports.

Ofcoarse there has to be some other way to get certification so I figured there should be full proof certification cards that are temporary and can be bought for FP. They would only work for your faction and not other factions. Smugglers would be able to get ahold of that can be Jerry Rigged to work for the other factions.

The simple fact is that, as good as this idea may be, it will not be implimented for one single reason: It is inconvenient for combat profs.

One only has to look over the past changes to see that this is the focus of development: Shorter waits for shuttles, no exp loss, no more BF, limiting wounds, no waiting for buffs, no seeking a doc to heal, sliced weapons going out of tune was nixed before making it to live, etc.etc.

Basically, the game has been modified for lazy, grinding, combat. Knowing this, there will never be a modification to the game that would make it challenging, interesting, or fun.

Thanks for playing. Have a nice day.

This is kind of like the idea I wrote down about contracts. The game needs evidence of a transaction (succesful transaction or failed transaction). If there is a failed transaction, a player could use that contract, give it to an imperial or terminal and place a bounty on that smuggler.
