When I was grinding thru 28 professions, I spent a little time with each one. I decided I liked Smuggler/TK/Pistoleer.
So when I did get my jedi I started taking my main back to Smuggler/Pistoleer. Now it has taken me a while, with playing the slow grind on Jedi at the same time.
With JTL coming out I wanted to be a Smuggler/Privateer like Han Solo and actually SMUGGLE stuff.
So the question is: Will Smuggler be viable with Pilot, since there is not a Privateer profession and since they dumped the Smuggler revision?
Or is this a pipe dream and I should just play and enjoy myself instead of trying to actually do somethiong COOL in game?

No direct bonus from any ground-based profession for the pilot professions.
Yes, thats sad, but I think this will change someday.
Most likely for Smuggler (of course), Bounty Hunter and Merchant. Squad Leader would come into your mind too. But well... there is a "slight" difference between ground and space combat. Maybe a new Wing Commander profession.

You were misinformed. There is a Privateer profession.

Privateer= Neutral pilot.
If you are not with the Rebellion and will not join the empire, your just neutral. Just flying for profit not an agenda.

So then the Privateer is a netral pilot. Ok still no real smuggling except I can talk about it and Roleplay that through....wow.
I was really hoping they would make it so we could load up spices or weapons and do transport missions of varying difficulty delivering them to areas and not gettting caugh or boarded. If you were boarded you could conceal the stuff or somethng cool.
Ok maybe its not really a Star Wars game then, more of aACTION expansion.
So then it don't really matter at all. I guess I will play and have fun then without actually having goals. Hell it really is JUST a game.

Well, they haven't lifted the NDA yet but I can tell you that yeah, there is no direct smuggler content but they really did lay the foundation for it. Maybe it's not there at launch but what they have done will have a lot of potential for our revamp.

True to some extent. A Privateer is someone who wants access to the privateer ships (such as the YT-1300), droid commands and other specials. You can be a Rebel or an Imperial on the ground, but a Privateer in space. When you want to PvP in space, you declare for which side you want to fight.

You won't be able to stay nuetral and master the "Freelance Pilot" profession at the same time to get your YT-1300 cert.
Master missions are in Kessel, which is a PvP enabled zone. To enter, you must pick a side. And by the way, master missions are just about impossible to complete without a solid group, and will be even harder if you have the opposite faction shooting at you. Most PvP battles are over in about 2-3 shots.
