Hi guys. I used to be a smuggler long ago..bout a year and my hubby is one currently so I have read and have kept up with all the smuggler troubles I can. I feel for you guys..I really do. But I was thinking.. Why would you guys really want to be hunted by a Bounty Hunter? As a Jedi, there are some very tough hunters out there that unless your a full temp Jedi you are gonna get the crap kicked out of you.

I know smuggler is not a toe to toe combat profession..and I know there is a split in some that take the combat path with other professions like pistoleer and stuff to supplement there skills...but I also know there are some that take the more scoundrel path and have other skills such as artisan, a craft of some kind..merchant for their supplies.. basicly not a true big combat template. I just don't understand why you guy would want these Jedi ready hunters to come after you guys. I mean I understand greatly you want content as much and more than the next guy and deserve the love you guys have sorely been missing, but I'mjust not sure where the fun would be in this for you all.

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything I'm just honestly curious as to the reasons why. Thanks for your time and I appreciate any responces I get to this.

As a matter of fact, not every Smuggler around here is really in favor of being hunted. That is the reason why we would prefer a deadbeat system, where you would actually have to do something intentional in order to get on the terms - and would get a "reward" for it. So no one would be hunted who doesn´t like to be. And as for balance, well, there are those who want to fight, but also those who want to run from the hunters. For fun. That´s where our skills come in.

There are several reasons why some Smugglers wish to be hunted (as Ryian has said not everyone does).

Smugglers have advocated a risk vs. reward system for as long as I can remember; having a BH hunt you as a result of failing an accepted Smuggling run is quite appealing to many Smugglers because it is resonates well with Han's situation with Jabba, fitting in with the ethos of walking a fine line between the Empire/authorities and the criminal underworld.

Many also love the idea of playing cat and mouse with BHs, although I think some envisage something far more complex than the current BH tracking Jedi system; they'd like to see Smugglers have the ability to avoid BHs, be it by playing dirty tricks, slicing terminals, or generally being sneaky and underhanded, regardless, more abilities would be required for both Smugglers so they can avoid BHs and for BHs so they can attempt to counter the Smuggler's efforts.

This really encompasses both of the above, but there is of course the RP value of being a notorious Smuggler, wanted by the authorities and some ex-employers and as a result on the BH terminals.

Although I know it will probably never be implemented I think a good Idea here would be to make the smuggler mission terminal similar to the bher terminal. You can take a lower paying NPC mission that if failed will result in an NPC bher coming after you or you could take a PVP mission with a higher payout and higher difficulty but if you fail you will have a real bher come after you. I think in order for the smuggler missions to work like this however they will need to ad a few more factions to the game.

I could also see where the smuggler might be carrying cargo that he might be tempted to steal and sell himself. Perhaps a smuggler could pick up a shipment of high end weapons and decide to keep them and sell them, thus placing himself on the bher terminals.

Having skills like concussion shot, panic shot, a snare, and last ditch... smugglers probably wouldn't be as easy as most BH think they would. Not to mention a lot of smugglers also have BH. I've seen a lot of FOTM jedi hunter templates have troubles against boss marks... which are pretty easy for BH / Smugglers with decent gear. I've also friendly-dueled a rifleman / BH / CM the other day. You'd think he would have owned me... but he could barely damage me at all. I incapped him 2 times easy, and the third time I justtoyed around with him since he didn't want me to incap him a third time. Third duel he got me under 1/2 health once, so I just dida KD / concussion shot while healing and laughing. This was even after he had done a coverup and had the alpha shot... so smugglers are no pushovers to other ranged templates.

Moral of the story: BH's aren't the only ones with tricks up their sleeve... Smugglers are just hard up for content to spice things up, and this would definately do that.

I would welcome smuggler hunting because at least they would stay and fight. But I fear last ditch.
