I've been a Smuggler for quite awhile now, yet I still can't figure out a good price to charge for slicing weapons and armor. I usually have gone by how many pieces I'm slicing-- 1 piece is free, two is 3,500, four is 5,500, and so on. But I really don't make much money off of this. I mean, a crate of clamps are about 8-12k, WUKs and AUKs are about 6k, a crate of laser knives 4k. Adding things up, one for each slice, I don't make enough money. Not to mention I need resources for spices, maintaince for houses and factories, supplies and whatever else I may need (plus some money for fun
).
So what would be a good price for me to charge? I usually try not to charge a whole lot, as to under-cut the competition. But I'm not really going to worry about that so much.
I'm so bad with prices it isn't funny.

There are only 17 bazillion threads in regards to pricing.
Either way ... here's my advice.
- Find an artisan that will let youuse his factory and YOU make your own knives and clamps. You provide the power and resources. This will save you money on those.
- Ask that artisan to make you WUKs and AUKs with resources and power you GIVE him. This will save you money on those.
- Do the math and figure out what it costs you to slice ONE item.
- Multiply that by 10 - 15 and THAT'S what you should charge your clients
I don't make my own tools (but I have an artisan friend that will make em for me now). My COST to slice ONE item is 360 credits. YES, YOU READ CORRECTLY. 360 credits to slice one item. I charge 5k per item and I make a TON of money.
GOOD LUCK !!!

Agreed.
By the way, don't under-cut the competition, then we all make more.

5k? Alright. I had thought about that, but I just had wondered if it seemed too much for people or not. It's nice to give newbies a really good slice on their weapon, but most newbies don't have a lot of money. They seem to be most appreciative then.

Weapons
(max damage x slice %)
Armor
(5 x base effectiveness) x slice %
It all averages to 5K anyway

I charge 5K no matter what.
But I am definitely not doing this to prevent new people from having a slice (besides they CAN afford it by taking 2 lousy and totally non-dangerous artisan delivery missions to Vreni Island - that's how I got my credits in the start. )
Also, I have to say that I cry when I see a guy in bone armor. It is so horrible. I haveoffered some of these slices for free.
Other than that: 5K!
That's the least!
Easy to calculate too!

Saw a guy in Bone armor and it brought me back to some fun times. And chitin is still the best lookin IMO. sorry to be off topic.
I do free for RL buds.
2-3k per for repeating contracts of 15 or more items
5-10k for strangers, this depends on attitude, my inconvienence, Roleplay participation and other factors, bottom line is its up to me.

There is a saying... the only thing for free is death, everything else costs ya, including the funeral. You can make an exeption for newbies, I think someone said once he charges 1k per master badge of his customer, but don't give everyone who comes up with one slice a service for free.
