So...here's my view on smugs...

For the kid who asked why imps can be smugs with no penalty- Well, if you want a SW answer, how about moffs? yes, moffs. You see the Emperor and Vader are new order purists, so of course they are against drugs, unconventional tactics, etc. But large regions of the galaxy are in the control of the moffs. So, as you can see, these unscrupulous villians could want several things that aren't technically legal, and there always be someone there to get it too them, regardless of imperial law. I mean how else are you gonna try to steal the empire with a uber weapon if no one can get you the parts? As far as myself being an Imperial officer and a smuggler, well, being a free agent for the empire doesn't give you a paycheck, and this does. I mean, we're the bad guys, we're not all mindless brain-washed drones. Some of us are here for the potential of REAL profit....

Now, for my 2 cents on the smug revamp (which I see they pushed back, yup, ID was SO much more important)...

Make smugs capable of being put on the bounty hunter mission terms if we fail a mission. (just don't look under the table...)

Give Dirty Fighting a AOE KD/dizzy (no I haven't lost my mind, it fits with the goal for the revamp)

Give the underworld tree an option so Smugs can find out names of people with bounties on them (I heard it though the grapevine....jedis would love us...not that I care...)

Make spices give a rediculous buff (why are we risking our necks to smuggle them? is there REALLY that strong of a market for them after the chef revamp?)

Make all smugs able to get a TEF from imperial stormtrooper squads (that include officers like me)

Let us don disguises and sneak past enemies.

Give smugs some dirty unarmed techniques.

Give us TEFs on rival smugs, to steal thier cargo and complete their mission (or vise versa)

These are just ideas, so don't flame me too much. I'll sure I'll come up with more as I go along.

I disagree with this. As of now I think players are way overbuffed and by adding the possibility of buffing even higher when you can stack spices with doc buffes and foods would make it all the easier to solo more of the game. IMO spices do need a fix to create a demand for them again but they should not become more powerful.

Other attributes of spices need to be addressed such as the downer of the spice that I believe would make people more willing to use spices on a regular basis.

I'm sorry, but if I remember correctly, it's been a while since I read the books, there weren't that many corrupt Moffs during the time that the game is set. It didn't happen until the Emperor fell. Why? Well because they didn't want to be on the receiving end of one of Vader's force chokes. We are currently set in the time when the Emperor was pretty much at the top of his power. If he thought something fishy was going on, such as an Imperial officer doing illegal things or things that might be viewed as not 100% devoted to the Empire, he would send Vader to investigate. We all know from the movies how short of a tolerence Vader has for those that fail, or in this case fail to server the Empire to their utmost capacity. All it would take would be a message by another officer (who would just so happen to have something to gain by someone above him being "relieved" of his post) and I think said Imperial's days would be limited. All in all, the arguement for corrupt Imperials holds less water in this time peroid than the post-RotJ time period. This is why I don't support Imperials being completely immune to contraband scans.

I could be influenced to change my mind however. If say Imperial players, cities, and bases were subject to regular spot checks by Vader himself. To go along with this, any Imperial found in possession of contraband by Lord Vader would be force choked which would equal permadeath for that character. Afterall, the reward of contraband should be balanced out by a risk.

I've always kind of thought Low Blow should do that. Come on, anyone that gets hit there isn't getting up fast...

Believe it or not, I'd go along with that, as long as Rebels ran the risk of permadeath as well. That way I wouldn't think this is just some johnny reb out to make things harder on imperials than rebels regardless of timeline.

Well I'm a Rebel right now on my main character (which is also my smuggler), but only so I can shoot it out with Stormtroopers when they scan me. As soon as there is an underworld faction like Jabba or something I plan on doing that. I also have an Imperial character and a full out Rebel character that works on rank and everything, versus my main that's just entry rank to shoot the troopers. The key in my mind is that Imperials have some risk just like everyone else and they lose their current immunity in some way. As I stated above this should be the HARDEST time for Imperial officers to get away with anything. As it stands right now, the current system just doesn't work in anyone's mind but the Imperials that get the immunity.

Another idea I had is as follows. When an Imperial is scanned and the Stormtrooper makes the comment about not knowing it was them, they get turned overt and get a special tef. This special tef would open them up to attacks from covert rebels as well as their overt status making them attackable by overt rebs. This would open the door to more spontaneous firefights in my mind which would be very cool for the game. Also the being attackable by covet rebels would be a penalty which would make the game feel more right when it comes to the Star Wars feeling. Rebels were supposed to sneak around and hit and run after all.

When it all comes down to it, this game needs to try to maintain as much of the Star Wars feeling as possible. I also believe that Imperials should not be allowed to be smugglers though, since as mentioned in the previous post this gameis set in the height of the Empire's power and the Emperor wouldn't tolerate people looking out for themselves (as smugglers tend to do) vs looking out for the good of the Empire. Of course I'm willing to accept this as a game balance decision.

Now if only we could make it so illegal items were actually illegal and weren't common place, everyday, everyone has them types of things (sliced items). That would go a long way to improving the Star Wars feel for me.
