Thread: Clamp Effectiveness

I was creating a schematic for amolecular clamp and started experimenting w/ effectiveness. Does this do anything?

If I remember correctly, the Smuggler FAQ mentioned that quality didn't matter as far as slicing went (i.e. better quality gear didn't produce better slices). However, I've seen a couple of vendors w/ different rates 98% clamps vs. 100% clamps. I've not noticed any major differences in my slice range using less effective clamps than better effective clamps.

I just wanted to make sure I didn't overlook something. If the quality of the clamp doesn't effect slice, then it seems to me that your best bet would be to mass produce clamps using poor qualityresources.

Tool quality has no effect on the slice outcome. You get the same slice ranges out of unexperimented crap as you do 1000 co copper. I have been slicing since july of last year so I think that's enough testing the system to confidently say it.

Now some people label their tools 90%+ out of a lack of knowledge and testing and some do it knowing full well it doesn't matter but figure they can pull some extra credits this way from those not as informed.

Yes, basically the seller is either ignorant of the fact it doesn't matter, or is just trying to make his product different from the rest... even though they are the same.

I don't understand the 98% and 100% they put in the name. There is no way to prove what percent the exprimentation was on the final product any way. Just slam on 100% on it anyway no matter what the exprimetnation turns out to be. When someone asks why you have 100% on it when it doesn't matter. Just reply well I put that on becuase I'm 100% surethat it is indeed a clamp.
