After much deliberation over the past few weeks I have today cancelled my Galaxies account. I've not logged in for a month now and, with a new baby and a house purchase on the way, I'm at a point in my life where I can no longer afford to keep paying for a game I do not play in the hopes that it will become better.
The truth is that as a beta tester I've seen how far this game has come since I started playing in March 2003 and despite minor superficial changes I don't think it has. I have no doubt that the game has amazing potential and that in years to come it will be an amazing game to play. But that time is not now and I can always resubscribe in the future. It takes many years for a game to reach maturity and this game has barely moved out of its infancy. Ultima Online and EverQuest did not truly realise their potential for several years so don't this process will be a quick one. It wont.
I've slowly come to realise that Jump to Lightspeed, however much fun it may be, will not change this game and the combat balance is too long delayed.
I am a smuggler at heart, and I always have been and we all know what is wrong with the profession. I won't bore you recapping what you already know. The customer service, or lack of, is the major contributing factor in my cancellation. I simply have no faith that Im not being lied to any more.
So with that I wish you all the best for your game and your future. The smuggling community has made this game tolerable and despite differences I've had with some of you, I wish you nothing but the best. My only hope is that my withdrawal from the game adds to all the others who have gone before me, and creates a situation Sony cannot ignore. My hope is that my cancellation will in turn make the game better for you, where my words and my posts could not.
This is the best community this game has to offer. I couldn't hope for a better bunch of people to have spent my time with in game, and on these boards, and I sincerely regret that in cancelling I will no longer be able to be part of this community, to interact with you all.
I'd like to take a few moments to remember all the good people that left before me. I don't think some of you truly understand how much this forum can become a part of your very existence. This is why my post is not "good-bye" but "good-bye for now"

It always hurt to see a Smuggler go, but I can understand you.
Good luck with your Real-Life, sounds like agreat time ahead for you.
I will try to stay at my post as long as possible, but I already feel the boredom and resignation dragging me away (/unconsent! Quick!...)

Your name was on my mental list of 'posts/replies to always be sure to read'..That list seems to be getting shorter and shorter as people like yourself quit . Guess I'll have to make some changes to the list.
