Saw this as I was taking the shuttle, but the loading screen said that a Smuggler with Underworld Skills can sell their junk loot to JAWAS?

When did this happen? And is it any better cash than the old Junk Vendors before Loot Kits?

It's a waste of time, just like selling to the Junk Dealers. Yet another example of the Devs wasting programming time on something stupid rather than actually fixing something worthwhile.

Yes, but pretty much correct in my opinion. It may have been a good idea but selling junk has always been lame because othere is no way to justify the time you spend doing it. The rewards are....well there really aren't any. You'll never make any good money doing it so why even bother. Any non smuggler can sell there crap to a junk dealer and get about the same prices you get to heading out to the Jawa fortress,which is still lame. So that pretty much sums up how well it works. Maybe if you rp your toon it may hold higher value but honestly I don't see alot of peeps that rp to that extent in this game. Bottom line don't waste your time with it. Continue to delete your crap or sell it on the bazaar if you think you can get any money from it.
