Thread: I made it to Master
Since it appears to be tradition I just wanted to let everyone know I made master this evening.
My first two slices as master were for a TKM and I sliced both his VK for speed lol. 26% and 20%.
So right now I also have rifleman and Engineering, and I'm wondering where I should go next. I never use rifleman, and engineering is goodcauseI can make droid batteries and all that misc crap but I could most likely do without it. I'm seriously considering going commando but I was looking at the skill trees for it and it looks pretty pointless to master so if I did I would probaby just get the flamethrower line. Anyway if has any thoughts about what I should do next feel free cause I'm sorta indifferent at the moment.
Congrats on making master smuggler! ![]()
I picked up some CH while I was working through the dirty fighting/underworld trees. Now, with the upcoming nerf to CH, I am dropping it to pick up TK for the ranged defense, and also so I can solo missions. The meditate line with powerboost also looks attractive. I'm also working through the pistoleer marksmanship/special abilities trees for the accuracy/speed bonuses.
I thought about pursuing commando but I realized it was a lot of skill points to give up just for the flamethrower and the launcher pistol. The upcoming nerf to FWG5's makes the commando option more appealing though, for the krayt launcher pistols.
Anyways, just my two credits. ![]()
I'm heavily leaning towards commando right now. Since I'm already a rifleman it won't take me that many points to master the marksman profession and I have like 133k combat xp lying around waiting for me to do something with. The only thing I'm worried about is that I have a feeling commando has only one useful tree...the flamethrower.
Do commandos even use grenades or that acid rifle or anything? I sure as hell never see it. Is it worth mastering commando just for that one extra flamethrower move?
Congradulations! good to see another long standing member make it to the top.
Regardless, welcome to the Fraternity.
As for your future professional choices, I feel in the mifddle and not too crazy about many of the options either.
I have a few MEdic boxes, some artisan stuff to allow me a vendor, and some scout stuff.
I have Novice Pistoleer and working toward novice TK, but neither one of them hold a lot of glee for me, so I'm not pursuing either with much vigor.
So, post back to us with what you might decide and the reasons for it...I'm sure I'm not the only player who has reachd MS and then felt kinda rudderless!
Gratz and welcome to the fraternity to you too!
And GL with the pistoleer pursuit!
Congrats on finally making it to the top...
About the Commando thing...
I have Flame 4 myself, but I'm planning on dropping Commando in favor of Master Pistoleer. With the silly 2.5x melee damage modifier, the flamethrower specials are pretty much guaranteed incaps.
Right now, my flamethrower is useful for 2 things:
1) Getting higher level missions from terminals - I think you can get level 20 missions at Novice Commando with your flamethrower equipped. At Flame 4, I get lvl 25 missions. I like the higher payouts, and with FD, pretty much anything is soloable.
2) Quickly finishing off camps with 40k hit points - Hitting camps for 6k per shot with a flamethrower is much more efficient than hitting it with a pistol for 1-2k per shot. Stormie camps are tough...
Sure, I'd like to keep Novice Commando for the Launcher cert...but that doesn't leave me with enough skill points to Master Pistoleer...*shrug*. I'll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out...
take the road less travel'd, become a Master Smuggler/Master Swordsman )
Personally was on way to master commando myself....stupid "purists" that master it....master commando only has two purposes....roleplay and belittlement of "dabblers". Seeing as anything other than Flame4 is a total waste of skillpoints unless you want to bag "dabblers" and feel like roleplaying (eg you want that title over your head...donno why...Master Smuggler looks -much- nicer)
Flame4 was hella fun. Specials were great for the DoT and decent damage...specially against rifle users. (Tuskens etc). Most seem to forget that Overcharge2 works just great at 64m.....and hits for significant damage also.
Had my fun at 0040 Commando/Master Smug.
Dumped Commando now and pursuing....Master Smug/Pistoleer (Cant argue that the pistoleer part DOES go hand in hand with the whole Smuggler thing),,,and 4000 TKA......the meditate line looks so useful. If you want extra defence bonuses cant complain with 0304 TKA....nice state defences with pistoleer (assuming they do stack that is) and decent ranged/melee defences.
Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/4000 TKA/3000 Scout/Novice Medic......but thats just me.
hehe thanks guys.
lol how about smuggler/pikeman![]()
I'm not too worried about the 2.5x dmg modifier with the flamethrower, I started out as a rifleman and it didn't dawn on me until recently why I had such a hard time starting out, I don't believe anywhere it tells you that you take 2.5x the melee damage with a rifle in your hands. I started a medic character on another server to screw around with and I was amazed how much easier it is to start out with pistol. I remember I couldn't even do my missions when starting out as rifleman cause every single mob does melee damage and I was getting incapped by durni's and butterflies constantly, all the while completely oblivious that I was taking 2.5x the damage cause I'm holding a stupid rifle.
ok kind of got off topic there but just wanted to throw in my damage modifier credentials. Do flamethrower specials really take up a lot of HAM?
