What's the best way to go on this? I doubt I'll be getting a whole lot of business right away since I'm only just finally able to slice weaps and my slices haven't turned out very good yet. I did one of my own guns last night and it came out at 11% speed then a while later in the Cnet starport sliced someone's VK for 16% speed.

cash is always better, but most people are trustworthy enough to take a bank tip

Straight cash is of course, safest, but bank tips are okay.

STRAIGHT CASH ONLY for faction point deals however...not just because that 5% gets kinda high in the 8 digit range, but people with enough money to be BIG spenders might be shady.

You learn well

Straight cash ... and I tell them not to pay until it is done. If they flake, then they lose the item and get /addignore...and the weapon goes on a vendor of 'cheap weapons from cheap customers'

And take cash in advance for faction point buying. If it's a setup then you'll get paid for getting incapped.

I dislike direct tips, so it is either cash in the trade window or bank tip.

I do see the wisdom of asking advance payement for faction point buying and transfer.

BTW there seem to be some hesitation about bank tip... do you mean the "false bank tip" thing is still doable? If so, how to detect a scam bank tip?

Relatively new myself at public slicing and stuff.

Yeah I was getting at the false bank tip thing, I've only been playing since June and while I've heard OF it I don't know if it's still around or has been fixed or even how it was done. For the slice I did last night it was a bank tip which was done before I clicked OK on the trade window but not thinking about the fake tip thing since it was 2am and I was falling asleep I didn't look at my account first to see if the numbers changed. I'm not worried about that particular transaction though I was just thinking for future slices what should I set for policy.

Mind you, I do not want to know HOW to do it, but how to protect myself against it. lol

So what I do is when I get the email I check both the email content and the state of my bank account.

credits are credits. who cares how they arrive as long as they arrive (preferably before you give the item(s) back to them )

And yes, faction always gets cash and always up front - no exceptions. I've never had anyone flake on me with faction. I just tell em I can't do half and half or after because of the cost incurred to me, and they're always cool with it.

I got a fake banktip once- guy sent it then sent a tell saying something like "oops, meant to tip my friend". Seems pretty unlikely to actually work on most people who've played the game enough to have a few credits. It's just a mailthe sender made tolook like a real banktip. Title and message body is identical to if you recieved an actual banktip. The only difference is the name in the sender fieldwill be "bank" if it's real and the name of the person if it's not. It's a pretty stupid thing to do; simple to prove malicious intent to a CSR, so easily bannable.
