I propose we start posting a new Are we Revamped yet thread everyday until we get it That way, we're sure to get it as soon as possible. Because I mean, look at the jedis, they got two revamps in a row. why? Because they're forum has 6 times the posts in it. That's why. We're not whiney enough So let's all be 3 year olds on a car trip until the devs take us to disneyworld.

In case you couldn't tell I was kidding...

Yup! We got a nice new icon, and we can now chase droids around in JTL while we pretend to smuggle.

your not fighting the good enemy on this one Max, it is logical and rationnal to revamp combat first (being logical is not what devs tend to do the best, but this time it looks like they somehow managed to get through a logical way of thinking).

Asking for the revamp to happen now is just asking something impossible, we all know that.

However, what we have to fight for, and to fight with all our forces, is to have our issues fixed, we have the issue spreadsheet submitted by Wes to the devs, we have the list i submit on every issue thread Tiggs opens, we could have others, but we have issues, most of them are present since day one (or even beta 3) and have seen no fixes.

The only fix i remember is more a combat or core system one, and that's the end of the power-up exploit. It was a bug in the smuggler profession that allowed people to have non balanced weapons, not a bug that was breaking the profession and the fix just changed nothing for us in gameplay matters.

You all know i fight, and fight hard, but a little help from my friends would be appreciated when i go on the battlefield of the issue threads. Some QFE, reactions with quotations and so on would help the spreading of our issues.

Asking that probably won't do much good. DEVs are well into the CU at this point, and since the have said they will get to the professions after CU the best we can try and do, is get Smuggler at the head of the list for the Profession Revamps.

Hopefully, sometime before the second coming.....

do you REALLY believe this revamp will occur one day?

be serious just a second and think about it again. Ok so now let's have some bugs fixed, or at least documented, if they don't want to fix them maybe we could simply know why. One year and a half waiting is proof of dedication, maybe we could use some veteran reward of this kind.

OK, I can see the logic in doing the CU before the revamps, but, and maybe this is just me - but wouldn't you want the revamps and CU to happen at once?

If the CU takes place, then in theory all the professions as they are will be in Eden - everything will be good and balanced. So, now that we're in this Feung Shui'd state what's the first thing we're going to do? Change it baby!!

So from this balanced state they start messing with Smugglers - they change our specials, they change our fighting methods. Then they change Ranger, then Squad Leader, then Entertainer, BOOMbalance is thrown, exploits/unintended changes from the revamps start popping up and 6 months down the line we're back in the position we're in now desperately needing a revamp.

If they know what specials or what the professions will have that will affect combat DURING the Combat Upgrade then it's not a problem, but I just fear they're going through a lot of work only to mess it up.

Ah well.

Cheers
Dat

It's a matter of resources and resource management. It's difficult enough to manage a development team as it is - having them working on something that takes asmuch code as a console game (yep, a stand alone console game) while worrying about design and balance issues is a feat in itself; to then take away resources from this and assign them to large development tasks that would preferably take up far more development resources would be detrimental to both the CU and the profession revamps.

Admittedly, there will be an issue of maintaining balance, but for Smugglers at least, that hopefully won't be so much of an issue. Either way, assuming they keep it going, they'll have the sandbox to test things out on, so balancing will be a lot easier

The CU touches almost every profession in some manner. It would be easier to do a comperhensive upgrade to one aspect of every profession to balance everything out. Then when they do the profession revamp, they won't have to touch any combat stuff.

Now, not knowing anything about the CU, I would expect that Dirty Fighting and Spices should have something done to them during the CU, these are the two "combat" areas within the smuggler profession. This leaves Underworld and Slicing to be touched during the revamp.

I could care less if they 'touch' Spices or Slicing. The ONLY thing I want is smuggling. I fail to see the point in calling ourselves smugglers when any turnip can see we don't DO any smuggling.

*jump in her seat and ask in a whinny voice* Are we revamped yet? Are we revamped yet? Are we revamped yet? Are we revamped yet? Are we revamped yet? Are we revamped yet? Are we revamped yet? (etc until someone either revamp us, slap me, or give me a cookie)

I think it pretty much the spirit of what max had in mind. (with the 3 years old in a car comment I couldn't help it lol)

I am thinking we need the CU first to see what works there will be a bunch of things that need testing fromthe CU before any revamp makes sence because if they are fixed before revamp they will just be broken post revamp.
