I was slicing some armor last weekend. I had just finished, when the server crashed and I was set back in time about 30min. I got a tell from the client telling me his armor was now unsliced, would I slice it again. So I did. And just as I finished, the server reset to 30 min in the past and I got to slice the same armor again. Now aside from being a funny story, I think this provides more evidence (as if we needed it) that slicing is completely random because the slices were all different.
The end of the story is the client ended up with better slices the last time through.

Very cool story. And I assume you were using the same tools as they were also reset after the rollbacks?

The second time I probably did because of the way I set up my toolbar (thanks to my fellow smuggler who came up with this to combat the autopull nerf), the third time I made sure of it because I wanted to see if something affected it like the serial number of the part or tools, but it seems it is entirely random as we all thought. I can't say for absolute certain every slice was done exactly the same each time, but I would say enough was to notice any similiarity.
