The clock is ticking and I find I'm on what seems to be my millionth cycle around the forum boards (I'm at work!). Yet I am no closer to a decision. I need to borrow the expertise of some of you that are probably a lot more familiar with the CU. I have put in some real hours, but I'm sure most of you have been really immersed in this...
So here's my background. I was a Bounty Hunter, turned Smuggler (how Greedo-esque of me, eh?) and I ended up with Master Smuggler, Master Marksman, and mostly useless. (Pre CU).
Here aremy goals: I want to be usefull in PvP. I like the idea of getting guilded again so I imagine a grouping style is acceptable... but for the first time in my SWG life, I want to have a decent PvP template.
I have been a pistol fanatic, but the range limitation seems to lead to some really hairy situations. I have an uber pre cu Elite Carb, and some nice rifles. I can't remember my pistol stats (again I'm at work) BUT I do know I have one 'better than the average' Elite Scatter, and FWG5. I have decent DX2's and like the rest of you, my DE-10 is poo-doo.
I really want to keep Master Smuggler in the mix. Here's what I've tried with comments to follow:
Master Smuggler + MBH: Love the specials, love the flexibility of carbs. But everyone says this is a slow and innaccurate template? Is this true?
Master Smuggler + Rifles: Love the damage, hate the action cost/slowness. Is anyone trying this one?
Master Smuggler + MP: Love the controls, hate the fact I'm always 30-ish meters away from foes.
So I want to be fast and enjoy crowd control mixed with damage. Is this even possible? I don't really have the desire to hunt jedi, so BH would not be considered for anything beyond the great state shots. (I still think they overlap a lot with smuggler, somewhat redundant).
Pistoleer seems to add the speed/accuracy that is lacking in smuggler alone. Is this true?
As an aside, I'm starting to think of trying Master Carbs, MBH for the damage + states. (I love that elite carb).
So if you're PvP minded, and want to stick with smuggler what works for you? I know MDPS is supposed to be important but I don't notice this to be true (with the cycling of specials considered).
I'd appreciate your two credits worth of opinion.

I'm really enjoying master smuggler/master commando/pistoleer 0400.
good speed, good defense, and nothing quite like lighting something on fire with a plasma flame thrower if I need to. I prefer to use my pistol most of the time, which is an old krayt dl-44 metal with scope and muzzle that converted over to the CU excellently. (modified dps of 436)

I'm still testing out my template choices but my favorite so far has to be Master Smuggler/Master Bounty Hunter/Pistoleer 0404. I use a standar FWG5 (Pre CU converted nicely) or my High Powered Scatter Pistol (Pre CU). I usually start off will Improved Underhand Shot (knockdown - BH), then Concussion shot (root - smuggler). I follow that up with a Improved Disarming shot (slows targets attack) then Improved Critical shot (BH). I alternate between Improved Disarming and Improved Critical. If they get a lucky shot in, hit disarming shot, then hit a stimpack (600). From there if they are still alive and the root is getting ready to lift, hit them again with Improved Underhand Shot and then Improved Concussion shot and then disarming again. It tookme about 15 seconds to take down a MBH/MR/Pistoleer 0004 yesterday and I only had to take 1 stim.
