Thread: ROTW more symbolic than anything else?

Anyone noticing that the "new" SWG, the post-CU, ROTW SWG, compared to the original SWG (pre-jedi/pre-buff), draws interesting parallels to OT starwars and the Anakin Trilogy?

Original Trilogy- imperfect, rough, innovative and loved by its fan base.

anakin trilogy- flashy, simpler, "perfect", not very innovative, more jedi, not widely loved, but people still dress up like darth maul.

Original SWG(pre-jedi/pre-buff)- imperfect, rough, innovative, and loved by its fan base.

"new" SWG- flashy, simpler, "perfect", not very innovative, MORE jedi, not widely loved, but people still pay 15 bucks a month.

Very valid points.... but you missed one important one:

OT- Han Solo actually Smuggled.

AT- We don't ever see Smugglers.

Pre CU- We have Smugglers, but they can't Smuggle

Post CU- Does this mean we're going bye bye?

On a side note, yeah... it's got a lot of the same feel that you're describing. Along with that, I see what they're doing to the crafter and entertainer professions. OT was a lot more social than the new ones. Same thing with the pre CU game.

Next step I hope is to have level 400 Vong hunting Jedi.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Altough I think the jury still should be out about the long term effects of the CU, specially once the "non combat revamps" are done. Maybe it will be more social, since it encourage group play. I played other MMORPG before and in none other did I found so easy to solo and because of that so hard to group (for real, not solo grouping) than in SWG.

Well, read on Dev tracker that they're coding in a Cantina zone for the cantina up in the Kachirio tree, so the ents are getting ONE thing on the new planet.

and when everyone's done with all the quests, my guess is that will be the main draw. parties on the tree.

I'm hoping they activate the cantina in the caves as well.

rofl, assuming an entertainer can get down into the caves alive...

"Where's the band?"

"Oh their manager's corpse dragging them in right now"
