Thread: RE-Vamp Idea's All in one Thread for Geevo and Caylin!!
guess i will get this started, these are short versions of the idea's floting around this board.
Smuggler Content
1. player smuggling
a. Simply make the scans better and the troops stronger forcing people to need a smuggler in there group. The crack down would work if it were a true crack down.
b. make more items (not all just one or 2)like high end resources and special loot very veryillegal items that never make it off planet with out a smuggler moving it.
2. Smuggler bountys
a. If you keep or fail an NPC mission you are a target for the bounty hunters.
b. If you fail in a smuggler mission for a player you become a target as well.
Smuggler skill tree's
1. text updates
a. fill in the missing stuff.
2. Spice re-vamp
a. follow the cheif re-vamp, make older useless spicegood foraim/speed..etc.
b. make the down time1&1/2 min not 3.
c. dont let spice count as a food filler.
d. let experimentation count for spice production.
3. Slice re-vamp
a. at master lvl let a smuggler - slice bounty hunter terminals and remove jedi and smuggler names. Leave room for eror so if a smuggler fails he to will be added to the BH term as well.
b. give master's an even better % then currently but leave the slice's random.
c. addition of the temporary slices (dev's are working on it anyway)but let a master have the option of picking the slice type for these new "buff" slices. Since its only a temp slice we should be able to pick what type of slice it is. This gives a client options. "do you want a fixed random slice or a temp specific slice".
d. Let experimentation count.
e. add the new spices they were planing on adding.
4. Under World re-vamp
a. give us a "Smuggler Language" that only we understand
b. add some unarmed moves.
5. Dirty Fighting re-vamp
a. from what i understand the dev's already have some moves for us.
A day in the life of a smuggler. And the PC smuggling answer. (Part 1)
by RylanStorm
I hope it provokes the thoughts of smuggling to you, that it did for me as I wrote.
So what makes a smuggler mission?
And here's the next one.
A day in the life of a smuggler. And the PC smuggling answer. (Part 2)

It was raining again in Kadaara and Mylak trudged towards the starport looking for warmer climates. Tatooine maybe? He checked the bank with dismay, making note to replenish his funds at some point. With a resigned sigh he heads over to the mission terminals.
Just the usual rubbish on the terminals today, merchants who haven't paid their bills, a dancer by the name of Merell who made a run from a cantina last week after a particularly bad hand in sabaac. Nothing special...or is there. With a start he knows today will be different. An old friend has made himself famous. Taking the mission he heads to Dearic. The last known location of an infamous smuggler.
***
Rylan awakes in the back of the medical center, his pistol coming quickly to his hand. The effects of the bacta were now wearing off but the arm still stung from the blast he'd taken. Quickly he understood what had awoken him and he reached into his pack for the commlink.
Sherrana Moffett was a spice peddler from Dantooine. They shared no love for each other but they did share a truce. They would contact each other if anything ever went wrong ( underworld 4 Innate Skill - Informant Network - Tells you when a player has taken your bounty - Master Smuggler tells you the name of the players ) Sherrana is entirely too happy that Rylan is being hunted.
"Who is it this time? That's the third this week" rubbing his shoulder again and thinking back to the Trandoshan from the night before.
"Sylvar"
"Great. I need this like I need...sithspit" he said in disgust "Where is he?"
"That's not our bargain scummer. I get paid to tell you he's coming, not to stop him or to help you but I take great pleasure in knowing that if it's him, he's more then likely close"
The commlink went dead but Rylan knew she was right.
Thinking quickly he injected some Hemostim into his neck. ( Halfs Battle fatigue and wounds but increases wound rate for 3 hours ) That should hold till he found a decent doctor and some time to relax.
The plan would come later. For now he had to keep moving. For now he'd have to settle with some bio-creep and hiope it would hold Mylak off.
***
In Dearic Mylak was spitting and cursing at the guards at the starport. His seeker droid had just come back to tell him it was unable to find his mark. He knew Rylan would be using bio-creep, a mild intoxicant that disguised the bio-signature for long enough to render the droids useless. Any other bounty hunter would have waited, but Mylak knew Rylan well and he knew there was only one course of action for him now. Two objectives, the terminals and the array. It made sense that a smuggler would go for the terminal's first, but Rylan was tricky.
He set off in search of the local array ready to lay his ambush.
***
Rylan's speeder clipped the lampost as he hurried through Nashal. He'd have to stick to the shadows (/sneak) but there was no way he was heading back through Dearic today. He had a good idea Mylak would be waiting at the terminals there, probably would some trap planned.
Kadaara would have been suicide but there was a place on Dantooine that might serve his purpose. If he could slice into the bounty hunter network he could get his name off the terminals. Sherrana had already gleefully informed him two more Bounty Hunters were looking for him.
***
Mylak had had enough. Rylan wasn't coming this way and he realised his error, he'll have gone off planet. He launched an Arakyd and smiled when it returned not long after. The bio-creep had worn off. Rylan had a head start but the hunt was on in earnest now. He had to make it to Dantooine quickly.
At Dearic starport he checked the terminals again. Rylan Storm was no longer listed. He'd met his first objective, it was clear.
( Slicing 1 skill - Slicing the BH terminals gives you the radial menu option Remove Listing. )
With 3 Bounty Hunters on him it's not going to be easy but at least there are no more coming for him.
***
Now the race is on.
With Seeker droids actively tracking him, it's going to be a close call who gets to the array first ( 2 communication arrays on each planet ). Rylan has the head start but the guards at the array wont just let him walk in. He'll have to /sneak past or kill all of them before he can send the message he needs to.
In fact it's too close and he has to take some action so he slices into the override controls on his swoop. At an expense of durability Rylan temporarily increases the speed of the swoop. It begins to rattle and shake ominously but it will hold up.
At the array he sees he is right. He's here first. Now to take care of the corsec.
Holstering his pistol he /sneaks around the array singling out a lone guard. He gets within a few feet of the guard before using a skill he learnt from a Smuggler on Nar Shadaa. /garotte ( high damage unarmed attack used only in conjunction with /sneak. Gained at DF4 it is extremely effective against humanoid opponents )
Two more die like this but Rylan's luck never holds. As he sneaks up on the fourth a twig snaps underneath his foot. ( /sneak failed ) and the guard opens fire. Quickly he equips his pistol and shoves the muzzle into the gap between two pieces of armour ( DF3 /exploitVulnerability ). The guard flies backward, becoming a corpse in mid-air but Rylan's gun, already double sliced ( skill granted at slicing 4, only for personal weapons ) sends feedback up his arm, wounding him in the process and reducing the guns condition by 50.
Rylan staggers to the communications array and slices open the locked door. If he can make it upstairs to the array he can send out the signal he needs. The news of his death.
( Granted again at slicing 1, slicing the communication array sends out the message that a Bounty Hunter has suceeded in killing the smuggler - All active bounty hunters lose the mission )
The door to the array slides open.
***
"Heh heh heh " laughs Sherrana "Sylvar was waiting for him inside the array. Storm never even knew what hit him, killed outright"
The swoopers in Mos Eisley cantina all laughed along with her and continued their drinking though the night.
***
Mylak sat in his house lamenting the death of his old friend. They had served with each other long ago as cadets in the imperial army. He took no pleasure in killing Rylan but if anyone was going to do it it was right that it was him.
He knocked back the contents of a bottle of Vasarian Brandy he'd found on Rylan. No doubt the brandy of the dancer he was working for. It never got delivered and soon she would be Mylaks target.
***
The moons had sunk beneath the horizon long ago but he had to be sure. It was cold and uncomfortable, and the door kept banging into his leg in an attempt to close, but the discomfort he as suffering now was nothing compared to the discomfort he imagined death would be.
And then, Rylan opened his eyes.
Aaaand another one..
Language Revamp added to Smuggler Template
by RaithStarwind
The Developers made the stand originally that there was no way to allow Player Smuggling in time for the revamp, end of dicussion. Based on the outcry of the smuggler community that npc smuggling just would not fill the need for our profession we have gotten the issue from an adamant "No" to "Let's discuss it."
Since we are tackling issues again that were originally closed, I would like to bring up Languages for Smugglers again and hope to add this item to the template.
One of the key abilities of our Underworld tree is universal language comprehension. A skill I think is wonderful for our line of work and fits very well with what we have seen in the Star Wars Universe. The problem is that with other player professions having the ability to teach one another thier native tongues for free this makes such a skill obsolete. (Yes, I know we are still able to speak to Jawas solely. Big Whup. ^_^)
This also makes Protocol Droids rather useless as well. One of thier key features should be translation.
The developers have also shown that they are willing to take away a universal ability that is not commonly used, speaking of which to Image Designers new ability to Stat Migrate. All players had this ability but the process took a week. Now that ability is gone from general players and Image Designers now possess a key ability people can seek them out for. The profession is getting far more attention and there is no real outcry from the community about this being unfair.
I would just like to see languages have a more direct role in the game and all I really seek is a chance for this to be discussed with developer input. If you wish to see such a matter come under discussion by all means reply.
: grins : But never one to keep my opinion to myself this is my proposal:
Grant everyone Comprehend Basic and grant Humans the ability to speak it. If someone speaks in Basic everyone will understand them. This will keep the matter of incomprehenshion from becoming a matter of annoyance.
Allow Non-Humans to speak and comprehend thier native tongue. This will make aliens develop a closer community sence and give them the ability to speak things in thier tongue without it being universally heard.
Allow Smugglers to Comprehend all languages but not speak them. Han Solo undersood Chewbacca's roars but spoke to him in basic, which he also understood (getting back to everyone comprehends Basic).
If a person wishes to know an additional language that person can spend a skill point to understand it. By spending a skill point the player is adding a clear unique advantage to thier character. For example, unlike most humans, Rath Starwind can speak with a Trandoshan in thier native tongue. Spending a skill point grants both Speak and Comprehension in a Language and any alien spending a point in Basic will allow that Alien to speak in Basic. Many players already have one or 2 remaining skill points when they max out thier skill trees so this would be a great place to deposit them.
Finally for thouse who still wish to understand an alien language but not spend skill points that player could purchase a protocol droid. The droid could have language modules added to him and if the droid is outside of the users datapad that individual is granted comprehension and speech for any languages that droid possesses.
This would increase the market for protocol droids.
This would let smugglers evesdrop and/or act as intermediares with aliens.
And with everyone understanding basic the player community would be only mildly inconvienced in speech till they spent a skill point or bought a protocol droid.
Thanks all for the time, and I hope people are intrigued : has his fingers crossed
