Hey guys, new smuggler here...and I think this is going to be a really fun profession, no I'm not grinding this for FS
Just wondering, does anyone have any suggestions on which spice I should grind for the spices tree, and any macros that might help? I imagine a spice grinding macro would be very similar to the doctor grinding one, but I don't know what numbered schematic each spice is...
And for slicing, is therea recommended macro as well, to speed the process along? I'm working on getting a ton of clamps and knives for now, then I'll need to look for upgrade kits etc...

I believe it's the thread at the top, but Shadowpaw is probably the best spice to grind. It requires very few resources to make which are common, and gives decent experience. i didnt use a macro (i had one but i found it just as fast to do it manually as you still have to click the resources you are adding). I used 3 crafting devices and finished in about 2.5 hours.
slicing is a little harder, especially 1 and 2. locked containers can be a pain unless you are rich. I went to Fort Tusken and asked people if they needed their containers opened. I did a lot of business there, and got through 1 and 2 fairly easily. For 3 and 4 i used one of my guilds factories to mass manufacture survival knives. im not very wealthy and i couldnt afford Clamps (10k for 25 on Radiant is the going price), so i manufactured FANs myself. This got me to Novice Weaponsmith too. I'm about 20K away from slicing 4 and that's only about 4 hours work, going from slicing 3 that is. i don't believe there is a macro for slicing as you have to play the smuggler minigame.

Aye.
Shadowpaw isn't too bad to grind, and uses generic ingredients. Much faster than the medic/doctor grinds.
Slicing... I did (obviously) containers to slicing 1, then started doing terminals while I ground faction. Trouble is, there's a large time offset for terminal slicing, and one slice on a faction terminal turns off all other terminal types for 2 minutes. Also, they're only worth 100 points. Being impatient, I went back to a container dealer and bought enough containers to get slicing 2, when I could slice weapons. I kept tons of garbage loot-drop weapons to slice, but you really need to slice tons of them...
I ended up buying crates of survival knives on the bazaar, and crates of WUK's and molecular clamps. They're really not that expensive, and they make _every_ slice work, so their added expense can be absorbed.
I have the kits and the crates of weapons to finish slicing, probably will do so in the morning. The only limiting reagent right now is precision laser knives, so I'll have to craft a stack of them before I start.
If you can't afford crates of weapons or armor pieces, you could always scrape up enough to buy the WUK's and AUK's and slice armor/weapons cheaply in Coronet. There's almost always people there looking for slices, and if you're cheap they usually don't mind the lower %'s.
Good luck. I'm liking the class, and it's inexpensive enough to allow TKM, Master Pistoleer, Master Smuggler. Will probably hit it this weekend!
