I had an amazing fight earlier today with the first Dark Jedi Knight on my server. I just thought I would share the experience and give you a few of my observations.
The Knight was Cypher-Dyas of the guild FED. He has quite a reputation for being an extremely tough opponent. I did nothing to tarnish that reputation.
But it was an incredibly fun fight that lasted well over 2 minutes. He used saber throw, a single saber, and even pulled out a polearm at one point. Very fun.
I saw him in Theed perma-overt. There was another Dark Jedi at the time but he was shuttling out. I decided to prep, fly to Moenia, then fly back to Theed and have a go at it. So, in a sense, I had an advantage in that I knew the time and place while he didn't know I was coming.
The prep: Full 6 stat doc buffs that put me at about 2600 a stat. Full dancer and musician buffs that put my mind at about 2200. In Moenia, I meditated, took brandy, took verscupti (that moldy bread that gives +1000 per stat), took some canapes, and took a neutron pixie.
My stats were around 4000/3600/3700. I also took some synthsteak for damage mitigation.
I sent a quick tell to let him know my timer was wearing off so it would be a fair fight and he came out swinging. Now the analysis.
The defense against ranged attacks is incredible. At one point when I was using my pistol, we did no damage to each other for 12 seconds. I dodged his saber throw and swings while he blocked my low blows and last ditches. Ranged attacks are not going to be useful but that is something you have heard before. A master pistoleer can do well defensively against a Jedi but there was virtually no offensive output. Only a few of my shots sneaked in. I never managed to KD with a low blow and didn't stun him with Last Ditch. I would say, use a pistol to run away or to close distance but don't expect to do any real damage with it. Accuracy was not the issue because his block is much like our dodge -- it affects the damage roll and not the roll to see if the shot lands. In that 12 sec time span, he blocked a good 3200 - 3500 ptsof damage or so from my geo blaster.
But don't expect to run far if you try to get away. He was using force run and there was no way in the world I would have been able to out distance him.
I was most effective using TK moves. I managed to knock him down but didn't get a dizzy to stick. He swung a good deal slower than I can shoot or throw a punch so I would get in a good couple of unarmedhit3 on him in between his attacks. He seemed to be hitting me for about 50 a pop with the synthsteak and about 200 when it was gone. He did get in a few states and at one point, I was blind, dizzy, and KD'd. Every hit that landed gave wounds and BF. Not a lot but those sabers can hurt! He was also somewhat vulnerable to states and a random roll stuck a blind on him.
My health pool seemed to be hit the hardest of any of my pools.
So, to wrap it up... Use your pistol for defense rather than offense. If you have melee moves, those will be the most effective. Protect against dizzy and KD if possible. Use state attacks because you can most likely get them to stick and reduce his defenses as well as damage output.
A solo triple master is not going to be able to beat a Jedi but lasting 2 minutes against a Dark Jedi Knight has turned out to be the highlight of my week.

Hey did you happen to give him a run for his money? By that I meanhow much did youdamage him? Was he barely scratched by your attacks or were you getting some good licks in on him?
Im happy to hear this, goes to show theres hope for smugglers everywhere in PvP

I may have only if I caused him to drain his force pool but at the end of the log, I was pretty much his puching bag. Right before I gave up the ghost, he had me KD'd and dizzy and was wailing on me for about 400. But looking at the log, I realized there were a lot of things I should have done differently. But that just means I'll be more effective the next time around. Here is my combat log.
