I sent an email to SOE ( to an address that someone gave out in an earler thread ) regarding the p-up slicing issue. (My real life name left out of the reply)

My email:

Is the "power-up" slicing technique an exploit or not?

I've never done it and I never will until SOE declares it legal in-game.

There are too many Smugglers and players in general that don't know what's right
and wrong in regards to this.

Help!

The reply:
Greetings,

Using a power up during a slice to bug the stats is a exploit. If you do
hear how to do this please do not do it. If you have any other questions
please feel free to reply back to this e-mail. I wish you well and a
good day.

You can tell it's legitimate because the grammar in the CSR response is bad.

I agree, and thanks for posting!

It should be, but unfortunetly several people have popped up over the last few weeks trying to justify it as a legit practice. I doubt this will do anything to keep them from doing it, as they seemed pretty convinced they were right even when all the evidence said otherwise. Anyway, at least now we can point at something a little more concrete when the next troll pops their head in and trys to justify it again.

I don't see how anyone could say this isn't an exploit...

If it wasn't they wouldn't take off powerups when you first start slicing.

nobody reads the smuggler FAQ anyways.. just look that the first page of the boards every mornjing

I got asked to this yesterday by a prominet player on my server. We were talking about a large slicing job on some nice T21's he had purchased. I had to refuse him even with the big bonus in credits he offered me.

I for one am glad that this email got posted because I was a little confused on the subject on whether it was a TRUE exploit.

I know my thread last week was deleted because it was too much of a "how-to" regarding the p-up exploit. I was only trying to stir the pot a bit to see if SOE would actually respond and I was surprised that my email was replied to so quickly.

I don't don't think the benefits of p-up slicing are SO great as to unbalance the weapons, but it is bypassing the way the devs designed it.

One problem with this.

ITS FROM A CSR. They are as random as magic 8-balls when it comes to giving straight answers.
