i was wondering if anyone ever played a template like this one. It involves alot of basic professions, so it might look like wasted points but allows anear to 100% totally self sufficient smuggler:
Master TKA
Master Smuggler
Novice Armorsmith
Novice Weaponsmith
Scout 0.0.3.0
Allows
- Full smuggling abilities
- Enough punch to hunt (pve only) with TKA
- All the possibly needed smuggler tools (WUK, AUK, Clamps, Knives)
- Sampling (to a small extend) for ressources
- cdef weaps in crate for grinding smugglers and stuff like that
- Enough scouting to harvests a bit
only lacks (in my eyes) the healing of at least novice medic..but the meditation line can help with that
whatdoyouthink?
PS : i also toyed with the char builder to take at least novice pistol, but i doubt i'd ever use pistols with that template

I would try to add Business 3 into it somewhere. Then you have a vendor to sell spices and slicing tools for additional revenue.

And for the more scroungy Smuggler might wanna take some Engineering, to boost your Artisan experimentation...it might help you get more uses out of your Laser Knife and such. Also, if you craft slightly better-than-average CDEF weapons, and slice them, you can make a bit of money out of people who want to grind (quickly and cheaply) a Marksman prof - with a decent sliced CDEF, you can hit Pistol/Rifle/Carbine IV without *too* much difficulty - you should be able to take out slightly better enemies.
*realises you've already got engineering to get Weapon and Armoursmith* Doh!

I'm thinkin' yer wantin' to solo too much.
Honestly, this is an MMO. I like the idea of relying on other players. It's fun and you get to meet other people.

I'd agree with you, but I'm kinda tired of looking for AUK's and then getting bent over when I finally do.

hehe i dont solo at all, i allwayshunt in groups and such. That doesnt mean i HAVE to go "cookie cutter" templates like TKA/Pistol/Smuggler is it? It just means i can produce anything i need..and sellon the same vendor everything another smuggler needs. Besides that i've got :
1. smuggling (ok, kindof)
2. fighting
3. crafting
4. harvesting
possibilities... in your view i should drop one of those abilities...to..what? fight the same mobs with another gun?
Dance in a cantina?
Some people like to fight all the time and dabble 3-4 professions. Some like to dance and play music, i like to be able to do a bit of everything :-)

I just recently dumped a template somewhat like yours:
Master Smuggler
Master Pistoleer
Novice Armoursmith
Novice Weaponsmith
Business 3
RangedSupport 4
Leaves you 2 points. Complete self sufficiency. Make all your own products, you could take Surveying 1 if you wanted to, sell your own spices, as well as clamps and everything else. It worked well for me, but I wanted to switch to a pure combat template, so I dropped everything in favour of the Triple Threat. Started a second account to do all my crafting for me

I have Master TKA, Master Smuggler, Novice AS, Novice WS, Business 3 and Novice Medic so I can do a bit of everything. Leaves you with 1 lone point.

Seems like a huge expenditure of SPs just so you can make your own UKs. They are fairly easy to find so it seems a bit of a waste to me. I would much rather have the template I have now and make money on missions that will more than pay for any tools I may need. Or if you know a AS/WS have them make you a schem and your set for a long time.

I've not had much trouble with kits myself. I have a WS friend who makes me schems and I buy the armor ones off the bazaar.
As to your template, looks like a lot of PvE fun.

Or get a second account and grind out master armorsmith/master merchant/novice weaponsmith. that way you can make and slice your own uber armor, and make all the wuks you could possibly handle.
