Thread: Slicing at master
Wanted to get an idea if slicing %'s for other master is all over the place. I can slice a piece of armor for 45% followed by a slice for 11%. At Master level one would assume the days of getting low teens are over. Is this a bug or just the Devs lack of love for smugglers?
Although, there is really two diffrent ranges your hitting that low and high in.
- Armor effectiveness seems to be ~10-35%
- Armor encumberance seems to be ~20-45%
So each range is a bit tighter than it would appear with the two slices you had. I am assuming the 11 was an effectiveness of course.
While it may feel a bit random for a Master Class ability, balance that with the fact that there is not such thing as a failure. While an 11 is low, you still improved the armor...
But of course we all want that 45% slice
really makes your day.
you know its not even that i am being greedy in asking that the master should have a higher range of slicing, everyone knows that even pros make mistakes. the problem is that range is just to wide. as a master i have only increased the max value? i haven't gotten any better in reality, i still have a huge bottom end.
yes i agree, master are insured a 100% success, but all often i see crazy low slices. is this becuase they have not added in experimentation to tools, possibly. if this is the case the least they can do is raise the bar for masters until they finally get around to fixing the progession.
oh and just a little info i have sliced both effect and encumbance for as low as 11%.not fun telling a customer that news.
11 on encumberace ouch
that range does seem a bit wide compared to all our other slicing data, most seem to be within ranges of 20-25 points (15-35 for exsample)
20 points is not bad, but 10-45 is a bit over the top.
SanTsu, could you ask that they review the master range on armor? We know they may of paid extra attention to weapon range with the fix of the old bug, but maybe armor got by them...?
Maybe we should /bug things like this?
i have bugged it but just assumed the devs would just pass this by because it just is not important, but yeah bugging is great idea and hopefully san tsu can get a repsonse it this is accurate or not.
thanks
while slices do go across the board and seem very random, I've noticed that I get better slices from smiths who craft higher quality pieces.
Through my own experimentation on crates of high quality cdef crates vs low quality, I've noticed much better results from the higher quality stuff
I havent tested crates of different quality armor yet, but I have noticed that I slice faction armor in the 35-45% range almost every time (I'm assuming that faction armor is 100 quality...)

Yeah, sorry about that. Just got a bit snippy when I saw this post since the box that would answer this often-asked question is STILL EMPTY!
