The gun you're holding, with the exception of a few specials, doesn't mean anything. You can use headshot with a pistol.

So I'm thinking since it seems like most of the smuggler specials and pistoleer specials are pretty similar, rifles might be the way to go, and just debuff them, root them, and blast away with nuking specials...
